Jung Min-ju tilted her head. She wore a puzzled expression while looking at the computer monitor. Just then, Kim Min-seok entered, opening the door. “…Agent Jung, I’ve investigated the report you requested. Let me know if anything needs revising.” Jung Min-ju watched him leave, then picked up his report. It detailed Park Sung-jae, who was impersonating Gamagogi. Park Sung-jae had been sending experimental samples via courier to an abandoned house in Cheongju, South Korea. Moreover, the house was registered under the name Nagato Soren, a Japanese individual. Nothing added up. “…What the hell is going on?”
Kim Min-seok couldn’t understand Jung Min-ju’s actions either. She started by investigating Lee Yeol-gi, but suddenly shifted to probing an unrelated figure, Gamamusa, which made him skeptical. Is this really the right path? Is there truly no other way? An idea struck him. He immediately called military prosecutor Lee Bywong-su. “Hello? Prosecutor Lee Byeong-su, it’s about the current investigation. My superior is looking into someone completely unrelated to Lee Yeol-gi. Do you have any information on a person named Gamamusa?” Lee Byeong-su sounded puzzled. “…How did you come across that name? I found it while digging through old military legal records. He’s not exactly like the spy we’re after, but there are similarities. According to the records, he crossed the sea to North Korea. That’s where it differs, but 2005 records show he defected to South Korea, armed.”
Kim Min-seok tilted his head. “Armed defection? The NIS would’ve investigated that, but there’s no record of it.” Lee Byeong-su nodded. “He was carrying a fake gun with no live rounds. It was likely reported to the NIS, but they probably didn’t take it seriously.” Kim Min-seok felt confused. Nothing clicked in his mind. “…That’s odd. He’s clearly unrelated to Lee Yeol-gi, whom you’re connected to, and to my superior, Agent Jung. Yet he stole Lee Yeol-gi’s identity and even shook Agent Jung’s resolve. What’s his connection to Lee Yeol-gi and Agent Jung?”

…
“There’s no connection. I just used them.” Gamamusa spoke calmly. Park Sung-jae was dumbfounded. “…Have at least some conscience. Don’t you feel any guilt for messing with a military prosecutor and the NIS?” Gamamusa merely shrugged. Checking the screen to confirm Ko Ye-eun was asleep, he turned back. “…Doesn’t matter. They’re the ones chasing us. I dragged Lee Yeol-gi into this to catch Lee Byeong-su’s attention, and provoked Jung Min-ju to draw the NIS’s focus here.”
Gamamusa packed microbial culture samples into a courier box and continued. “The North Korean leadership purged my father. It’s only natural they’d keep us in check. Right now, most North Korean Reconnaissance General Bureau agents operating in Japan have likely been ordered to monitor me. To slip past their gaze, I need the South Korean NIS and Japan’s Cabinet Intelligence and Research Office watching me, so North Korean agents can’t attack recklessly.” Park Sung-jae tilted his head. “…Fine, whatever. But why drag Ko A-young into this? She’s not even skilled at staying hidden. With the NIS watching, what’s the point of having her deliver packages?”
Gamamusa gave a cryptic smile. “…Ko A-young has some history with Agent Jung. Jung’s suspicion of me probably stems from me helping Ko A-young. Now, will you deliver the package?” Without a word, Park Sung-jae, disguised as Gamagogi, picked up the courier box and left the basement. As he placed it in the delivery box, Ko A-young, disguised as a courier driver, arrived in a delivery truck minutes later, picked up the box, and drove off. Watching through CCTV from the basement, Gamamusa smiled meaningfully.
