After a few more pleasantries, Erevan, having stored one hundred million worth of Gold coins, left the house with a smile on his face.
It wasn’t long before Jack also came to claim his share and quickly ran off back to his house.
Nova didn’t see either of them off. He was still sitting on the sofa, immersed in his thoughts.
‘Now I know why the prices for those Spear Lords’ and Spear Kings’ concepts cost so much. They must have gone deep into Spear Force, thus, their personal experiences contain multiple different insights into Force.’
‘That means if anyone who hasn’t comprehended Force, or is only at the beginning of it, studies those concepts, they will gain a deeper understanding, greatly strengthening their own Force.’
‘There’s so much I need to do.’
He scratched his chin.
‘I need to buy more than just herbs. As long as I keep studying those people’s insights, my Spear Force will undoubtedly become stronger and stronger, so strong that even someone like Erevan wouldn’t believe it.’
Thinking about the future, a grin spread across his face, but it was soon gone as another thought popped into his head.
‘Before that, I need to bring all my spear skills to level 35, but that will take so much of my time…’
A sigh escaped his lips. He couldn’t wait to be done with this tedious training and embark on the journey of comprehension, but there was nothing he could do to skip this step.
He had to grit his teeth and persevere, only then would he be rewarded.
Nova stood up and, taking Dreadscape out of his Inventory, walked to the nearby, empty room and began performing the various spear skills.
‘A month. With my stats and my strengthened body, it’ll only take another month to finish this, and I’ll finally have caught up with Jack and the others. Then I’ll continue strengthening my body and comprehending Spear Force.’
He thought as the air whistled around him.
/////
A day had gone by, and far away from the town assigned to Earth, Celera had just arrived in another town, one that looked more like a city than anything else, and was respectfully standing in front of a luxurious palace.
It’s been an hour since I arrived and requested an audience with a higher-up, yet they’re taking their time as if I were nothing. Are they making fun of me?
She thought coldly to herself as she eyed the closed door a few steps away.
Creak
It was at that moment that the door slowly opened, and a fat man casually walked out.
His gaze landed on Celera, who was the only one standing there, and he arrogantly said, “You’re the one who wants to talk to an elder, right? You’re lucky one of them accepted. Quickly, follow me.”
He snorted and turned around, not even bothering to check whether she was following.
Celera, albeit angry, didn’t say anything and followed along.
I can’t be angry. Without their help, I have no way to deal with that civilization. For now, I can only endure, endure until I make them all pay for what they’ve done.
Her anger slowly subsided as she was led deeper and deeper into the palace.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
Soon, the fat man stopped in front of a large door and lightly knocked, saying, “Elder Prisca, I’ve led the one from one of our vassal civilizations here.”
“Mhm. Leave now,” a melodious voice rang out from inside the room.
Upon hearing this, the fat man bowed slightly to the door before turning his head toward Celera and saying, “Enter.”
Then, without hesitation, he took his leave.
The chance is here. I must do my best to seize it.
Celera drew a deep breath and slowly stepped forward before cautiously opening the door.
The first thing she saw was a middle-aged woman with light purple hair sitting on the ground in the middle of the room, surrounded by small arrays. Her fingers danced across them, and they changed rapidly with every tap.
An array master? We don’t have any in our civilization, but they do. As expected of someone ranked in the 90,000th.
Celera thought, momentarily dazed.
“Don’t just stand there. Come in.” Prisca said gently, though her gaze remained fixated on the arrays around her.
Celera quickly nodded and, after closing the door behind her, tiptoed toward the middle of the room, where she now had a better view of what was happening.
A hundred? No… hundreds of arrays? She thought in shock. Who is this person?
“Why did you come here?”
Despite the heavy weight of revenge she carried inside, Celera found herself at a loss for words in front of this array master.
Their statuses were worlds apart, and she began to question whether she had made the right choice in coming here to ask for help.
Prisca, having received no answer, lifted her gaze for just a moment. She saw the rapid changes of expression on Celera’s face before turning her attention back to the arrays.
“You came here for a reason, yet now you’re hesitating. Is it because that reason is a small one? If so, you shouldn’t have requested an audience with an elder. Any other person could have solved it for you.”
Her words were reproachful, but her tone was filled with patience and guidance.
No. No. No. What am I doing? Hesitating at the slightest obstacle?
Celera gritted her teeth and said slowly, “The reason I’m here isn’t a small one.”
“Oh?” Prisca’s hands came to a halt, and she lifted her gaze once more.
“Then what is the reason that brought you here?”
“Khaian…” Celera started, but she found herself trembling at the thought of what she was about to say, unable to continue.
Seeing this, Prisca echoed curiously, “Khaian?”
Celera’s hands clenched tightly, and after taking a deep breath, she managed to spit out, “My civilization… no, your vassal, Khaian, is on the brink of destruction.”
Prisca’s eyebrow raised slightly. “What happened?”
Her question deeply stung Celera.
She doesn’t even know? Is Khaian just an ant in her eyes, not even worth mentioning?
Celera couldn’t believe that the civilization they had sworn loyalty to didn’t even care about them.
It doesn’t matter. They can wait, but revenge cannot.
Pushing down the bitter feelings welling inside her, Celera said, “This happened…”
With as much clarity as she could muster, Celera explained what had happened over the past few days, not daring to skimp on any details afraid that, If they discovered she had omitted even a single important piece of information, it wouldn’t be Earth that faced the consequences of its actions. It would be her.
Minutes later, having listened to the entire story, Prisca spoke with a thoughtful expression. “An unranked civilization dares to show us no respect and seize everything from one of our vassals. This cannot go unpunished.”
Her words lit a fire of excitement in Celera’s eyes.
Yes. Punish them. Let them experience the same pain I’m enduring every second.
“But.”
Prisca looked at Celera, her gaze colder than before, and continued, “Since this has happened, we will need to form another contract.”
“Another contract?” Celera mumbled. “Why?”
“Why?” Prisca chuckled. “Since your civilization is on the brink of destruction, the terms of the previous contract are obviously no longer valid. If you want our help, you’ll have to sign another contract with different terms.”
“What are the terms of this new contract?” Celera asked quickly.
Fishing a contract out of her Inventory, Prisca handed it over with a sly smile and said, “This is the contract. I’m sure you can represent your entire civilization, so you only need to sign it, and we’ll take care of the problem.”
Celera quickly grabbed it and scanned through the contents with a hopeful look.
However, the more she read, the more her expression soured, until by the end she was left aghast.
Hands trembling, she looked at Prisca, who was smiling at her, and whispered, “Slaves?”
“Mhm. Your civilization no longer qualifies to be our vassal. The only way we can help is if you become our slaves,” Prisca remarked offhandedly, unbothered by the shocked look she was receiving.
Celera was momentarily at a loss for words. It took her a while to regain her wits, and as soon as she did, she hastily said, her tone bordering on desperation, “But we’re your vassal! Isn’t it your duty to protect us when someone threatens our existence?! We’ve always answered your calls and done everything you asked of us, so why this?!”
Prisca looked at her as if she were a fool and said casually, “Take it or leave it. My time is precious. If you don’t feel like signing it, then leave, before I send you off myself.”
She lightly smiled, but to Celera, that smile looked like the devil’s.
