Chapter 6: Exercising Creation

We dine on some freshly made steak and rice, courtesy of my creation skill. Not gonna lie, I missed this taste so much. Apart from the absolutely delectable meals Gran cooks every now and then, I really have only eaten steak about one or two times in my whole life, so getting to eat this again, Just the best feeling ever.

“This is so good! How did you do this?” Lyanna asks in shock

“Hehe, I don’t tell my secrets.”

I guess she likes it too. Since we need to get a move on, I’ll need to figure out a way to carry this entire carriage without me having to pull the entire damn thing, my back and legs would waste around 8-10 minutes if I tried to drag this thing that way. I do actually have an idea but I’m not too sure about it.

I finish eating early and wash my hands as Lyanna continues.

“I’m going outside for a bit; You can keep the plate in the sink. I’ll put it away”

She nods in agreement and I get out.

Ok so what I had in mind was to make an engine. Since I don’t know how to make petrol, the only alternative I can is water. But there’s a better way now that I have this creation ability. I can replicate the way piston engine’s work by creating a piston array that connects to a shaft like how a typical piston engine would. I could then place high release Aero circles to push the pistons, but I think placing Electro circles on the piston and an Inferno circle on the face of the piston cavity so when the two collide it creates a blast that pushes the piston. Putting it simply, this’ll work just like a normal engine would, but with the difference of magic. I’ll have to do some coding to make adjustments, but it shouldn’t be too hard.

For the sake of concentrating, I close my eyes and imagine an individual piston with its cover.

I’ll first script the circles in. After adding the circles and adjusting them, I create about 3 more with the circles imbued. I then add the shaft with a gear ratio in a container. I create an exhaust to get the excess steam out and create a cover for the piston setup that covers the shaft. I connect the gearbox down to an axle that joins into tires and covers the entire setup and make sure everything is accounted for.

For the final touch I add a control panel and finish the engine. Blocks appear and the engine constructs.

  “Done”

  That wasn’t too difficul-

A minute or so passes and I throw up everything I just ate and the ravaging migraine threatens to literally obliterate my head. My stomach rumbles as I can’t even breathe, and thankfully, everything dies down.

  Not…Fucking…Doing…That…

I regain my ability to breathe, and gasp as my body feels like it’s on fire. Creating an Aquant circle, I wash my mouth, and after the pressure I went through, I flood my face to cool my head.

I still restrict myself from using a healing circle for something like this. It’s almost like always taking medicine for the smallest injury. Your body just adapts to letting the drug do the work.

I create a wet towel to my head and observe the engine I just created.

The tire’s look strong enough so I think it’s ready to go. I hobble over to the carriage while holding my stomach, and open the door,

“Can you get out for a bit”

Lyanna’s still eating, and I do not have the energy to do anything else. While that’s happening, I check the engine and try turning it on. I turn the key to start the engine and the circles activate without mana needing to trigger them and I can hear the shaft turn.

The engine rumbles to a start and with the popping sounds of the pistons, the engine starts.

  And it FRICKING WORDS!!!

It’s shaking more than I would prefer, so I add a counter vertical force using Gravity magic to try to negate it. I add a Gravity circle underneath the engine and the shaking subsides a bit. I open the outer casing and the heat of the from the internals burn hot.

Jesus christ, this thing feels like it’s going to melt. I didn’t add any cooling did I.

Even though this place is cold as hell, it’s not enough to cool down the setup inside; I quickly turn the engine off.

The main thing heating up right now is the pistons, I should be able to add a Glacial circle to the individual pistons and script them to activate with certain restrictions so that it will match the temperature of the piston to cool it down. That should do the trick.

“I’m coming out Adr, Aris, uh, Av-”

  “Aarius” Sighing.

I connect the poles of the carriage to the slot I made after taking measurements. If I’m not mistaken, this should just slide right in. I lift the slot on the engine and the pole on the carriage and slide them in. My stomach churns again, and my throat gags. I hold myself back, and calm my body down.

The pole having slid in, I lock them into the holder and once again take deep breaths as I lay on the ground…

  This sucks.

I really have to get used to this, or else I might not be able to use this skill at all.

I stare into the ceiling; How did I even end up here. Everything was just going perfect, but some shit just has to happen. Hm.

Now that I think about it, there’s a common pattern I always see. When you really think about a certain topi- Nah, I’m just overthinking this.

I bring myself upright, and open the door.

  “…”

  Eh.

I open the door to no one and looking back, Lyanna stares in confusion with some bread in her mouth.

Wait what. Did I forget? What…

“Lyanna, can you go in again? I want to test something” I ask, mind pondering.

“Ok” She nods and gets in the carriage.

I get to the front of the carriage where the control panel is, and open the hidden window in the front of the carriage. Lyanna noticing, jumps up to the window and I turn the key; The engine jump starts, and the pistons boom not too loud.

“Is it shaking a lot back there?”

Lyanna comes closer to the window and replies,

“Yep, I can still slightly feel it, but it’s not that noticeable”

Well, that works. Then we’ll be on our way then. I didn’t think this would even work to begin with so I’m glad it did. I push the lever next to me up slowly and we start to slowly move forward.

Thank god nothing exploded with the accelerator.

I push it a bit more and we start moving at a reasonable speed.

“God I’m so happy this worked”
