It has been a week since I became a skeleton.
As a turncoat within Pound's Skeleton Legion, Li Pound had already silently smashed the skulls of ten skeleton co-workers.
That might seem like a lot, but for Pound's Skeleton Legion, this number of skeletons was insignificant.
Currently, Li Pound's skeleton status panel was as follows:
[Name] Li Pound[Race] Low-Level Skeleton
[Level] Lv3 / Lv10 (Low-Level Skeleton level cap is Lv10)
[Class] None
[Strength] 5/10
[Physique] 5/10
[Spirit] 8/10
[Free Attribute Points] 1
[Evolution Requirement] Racial evolution can be achieved after Strength, Physique, and Spirit reach maximum.
[Skills] Bone Alteration Lv1, Appraisal Lv1, Hard Bone Lv1, Strength Lv1, Swiftness Lv1, Tiptoe Lv1
[Status] Enslaved, Bone Deterioration
[Experience] 60/300
[Description] A fragile, eerie, but versatile skeleton. Cannon fodder enslaved by the evil Bone Dragon Pound. Estimated time until collapse and disintegration: 1.5 years.
[Tiptoe Lv1] was something Li Pound had plucked from the left leg of a Lv3 low-level skeleton.
This skill allowed him to largely conceal the noise he made while stalking or running.
For Li Pound, whose job often required stalking other skeletons, it was incredibly practical.
With this skill, combined with his [Swiftness] and [Strength], he often didn't even need to wait for skeletons to sleep. He could just pick up a stone block, stride over on his long legs, and smash it right onto them.
But today, Li Pound wasn't stalking other skeletons for a cheap shot like usual.
Because a group of guests had arrived at the Bone Dragon's Nest today.
Unlike the dull skeletons, these guests had goat-like horns, long, slender tails covered in fine scales, and a pair of pitch-black wings on their backs.
If Li Pound wasn't mistaken, these seemed to be... Succubus, a type of demon.
These succubus flew in the air, their eyes scanning over each skeleton as if inspecting goods.
Li Pound was very familiar with this kind of gaze, because just three minutes ago, he had been looking at other skeletons with the exact same look.
Dammit, Li Pound shrank his neck, hiding within the crowd of skeletons, hoping he wouldn't stand out.
However, a versatile skeleton, no matter where it was, seemed to emit that damned, unique, impossible-to-ignore charm.
His smooth, white bones seemed to tell others of his distinctiveness with every inch.
This was also thanks to some skeleton's hygiene habits, which made Li Pound always pay attention to keeping himself clean.
Li Pound was chosen by a succubus.
Before he could even escape Pound's clutches, Li Pound had fallen into the clutches of a succubus.
"Appraisal."
[Name] Lucia·Pound
[Race] High-Rank Demon
[Class] Mage - Elemental Mage

[Level] Lv34 / Lv40 (Third-tier Mage, High-Rank Demon level cap Lv40)
[Description] A high-rank demon servant of the evil Bone Dragon Pound. An embodiment of destruction and evil. Proficient in elemental magic, possessing extensive magical knowledge and a research-oriented mind.
"Good quality, a fine research subject."
Lucia tapped on Li Pound's skull and said with satisfaction.
Li Pound could only pretend to be dull and mindless.
If he was discovered to possess intelligence, there would be no chance of escaping Pound's clutches in this lifetime.
But being a 'research subject'... he felt his future was bleak.
Li Pound was taken to a square enclosed by stone walls. Besides him, there were other skeletons, all mindlessly wandering back and forth within this confined space.
Having played the part of a skeleton for so long, Li Pound naturally started wandering around in a convincing manner.
Among the skeletons, a few succubus were also wandering.
Appraisal showed their levels were generally above Lv10, and they possessed intelligence.
All these succubus had the surname "×××·Lucia". Those with higher levels also gained the suffix "Pound" after Lucia.
They seemed to be low-rank or mid-rank succubus enslaved by Lucia.
"All of you, watch these skeletons carefully! They are all important research materials!"
Lucia instructed them briefly before flying off again.
Stuck in this limited area, under the watchful eyes of succubus, Li Pound lost his chance to ambush and level up.
He could only sidle up near the succubus, pretending to be a mindless skeleton, and gather information from their conversations.
After a period of eavesdropping, Li Pound finally learned about Lucia's research.
She wanted to research and cultivate a special skeleton species: Elemental Skeletons.
Elemental Skeletons, unlike common skeleton monsters, are rare special species capable of using elemental magic.
All the low-level skeletons in this square were just consumables...
To be precise, in Lucia's estimation, these skeletons had virtually no chance of successfully transforming into Elemental Skeletons. They were merely cannon fodder used to record experimental data.
Lucia had left specifically to collect experimental materials.
And the first experiment on this batch of skeletons was scheduled for three days later.
In the blink of an eye, the first experiment was about to begin.
Over these three days, under the succubus's surveillance, Li Pound hadn't had a chance to ambush his skeleton co-workers.
So, both his level and attributes remained unchanged.
But Li Pound hadn't been idle these three days either.
He took the opportunity while several lovely co-workers were asleep, knocked them unconscious, and quietly replaced their limbs.
The mindless skeletons didn't even notice the changes in themselves.
Now, the skills on Li Pound's limbs had been replaced by [Hard Bone], [Self-Healing], [Toughness], and [Fire Resistance].
All were survival and defence-type skills.
Through his seemingly aimless wandering near the succubus, he had managed to glean crucial intelligence.
The first experiment was related to fire, so he specifically found a [Fire Resistance] skill to equip himself.
The first experiment officially began. The high-rank demon Lucia reappeared in the testing ground.
Compared to three days ago, Lucia hadn't changed.
She didn't bother with any unnecessary words to the low-level skeletons. She waved her hand, and two succubus grabbed one of the skeletons.
Lucia walked up to the skeleton, reached out, and placed her hand on its skull.
"Magma."
Flames, like molten slurry, poured down over its head. The skeleton struggled wildly, its bones clattering and grinding together, producing a chilling sound.
Soon, this low-level skeleton stopped moving, collapsed to the ground, and turned into a charred wreck.
Li Pound's non-existent scalp tingled. He carefully checked his skill栏 again, confirming his carefully prepared skills were still there, before feeling slightly relieved.
"Couldn't even survive the initial stage? Useless."
"Next."
Li Pound couldn't detect any hint of allure in Lucia's charming, pleasant voice.
Soon, the second unfortunate soul was brought up. It stood dumbly, head raised, the flames burning quietly in its eye sockets.
Lucia reached out again, placing her hand on the skeleton's head.
The same spell, magma poured down. This skeleton didn't even last as long as the previous one. Its legs gave way, and it collapsed and died cleanly.
"...Next!"
