Prologue

  Prologue

Everland. A beautiful place. Sun almost always shines. Plants are always growing. Children are always running around. A land where ordinary humans live in a perfect harmony with all species of, back then called, monsters. From vampires, werewolfs, ghosts, shape shifters, faeries and many others. Utopia for absolutely everyone. Well, almost everyone.

Witches and warlocks. A shame of Everland. Always in shadows, stranded from others. Everyone believing they are evil and want to destroy everything around themselves. In their hands, there is a great power that they are forbidden from using for centuries. They are forced to live in a wasteland called Colwhen, far away from everyone, where Sun is a rare picture. Where summers are cold and winters even colder.

Warlocks, no matter how used to, never liked their lifestyle in the slightest. They wanted change. A lot of them tried, but it was always ending fatally for them. Hung, humiliated, slaved and the most famous punishment. Burnt.

Funny thing was that some of those horrible things told about them were true. They could be merciless. They are focused on their goals and they will get rid of anyone who stands in their way. Sometimes even literally. It is never clever to be on their bad side. They can be cunning and mischivious. There is a small number of people they actually care about.

And they were sick of hiding in the shadows. They wanted to live normal lives and never see Colwhen again. But that goal was almost unreachable. Almost.

Things are like that for centuries. But soon, everything will change.
