[Entity has entered Brukor the Hollow’s Domain]
{Higher-class entity may be lethal. Caution advised.]
Those were the system's words that entered Heikin’s mind.
He paid no heed to the warning.
Heikin’s goblins pushed open the enormous door.
It’s obsidian metal creaked open to a screeching halt.
The room stank of iron and old victories.
“What an opulent stronghold...” Heikin stated.
“A fitting stage for a convergence between predator and consequence.”
Heikin pulled out his best spoils from the goblin tribe.
Dual-wielding daggers with poison enchantments.
While wearing thick leather armor that once belonged to the chief.
The ogre rose from its throne, club scraping against stone.
“You dare challenge me, little goblin?” the ogre bellowed, drawing its massive club.
Heikin chuckles lightly.
He actually chuckled.
“You will see that I’m more than just a goblin. I’m your aftermath made flesh.”
The viscous slime lunges toward the orc in a flash of steel and iron.
[SYSTEM NOTICE]
[Entity activating skill - evasive dodge]
[Bullet time active - 60- second cooldown]
Heikin sidesteps the ogre’s club by a hair.
His movements precise but nimble.
“Launch counter maneuver!” Heikin yelled.
His goblins didn’t need to be told twice.
They ran and hit the ogre’s side with a flurry of spear strikes.
Blood oozed out past flesh onto the spearheads like a burst wine skin.
Brukor wailed as agonizing pain shot up his side from being skewered like he was merely a gutted fish.
“Pathetic goblins....will pay!” He thundered.
Yet he staggered.
His weight shifted from his right onto the brute's left.
A futile action meant to make up for the stinging pain.
But it was the optimal outcome Heikin projected.
He jumped onto the ogre’s knee, using it as a launching pad onto his neck.
He lifted both daggers upward like a priest about to sacrifice a lamb.
“Another variable to expunge from the system.”
He struck the poison blades past the monster's collarbone.
Contact point hit. Blood vessels ruptured upon contact.
Blood sprays out like a river as the ogre roars in waves of searing hot pain.
But Heikin was too absorbed in his foreseen conclusion that he’d yet to notice the heavy metal swing at him from behind.
Knocking him off like an unwanted pest.
He falls to the floor with a thud.
Armor cracked, blood trickling down his nose from the collision.
[SYSTEM NOTICE]
[Substantial damage received to the skull. Health points lowering to a critical state.]
“That was a careless error.” Heikin admonished. “A glass cannon is only as strong as its perception.”
He steps back to recalibrate.
The system message “critical state” hanging heavy in his mind.
He looks down at his hand.
It shakes subtly.
Just a tiny, involuntary reaction.
A tremor in the fingers that goes up to the wrist.
“Fear has entered the equation,” Heikin noted.
His body reacted before his logic could.
No matter how optimized the system, the organism still exists.
One more poorly timed reaction.
Another mistaken calculation...
“So. Fear wasn’t eliminated. Just… deferred.”
“Interesting. The model accounted for damage. Not hesitation.”
“A variable I failed to isolate.”
Heikin gives a half self-depracating laugh.
“Guess even a system thinker still trembles.”
Heikin shifts his foundation to a new mental framework as he dodges yet another attack.
Heikin once believed logic could master everything.
He reasoned that logic can control fear.
But not erase it.
“I have a new trajectory.” He concludes. “A new thesis in the making. One to ascend from dungeon moss-eating slime, to predator.”
“Fear is something to optimize.” He thought.
"Something to remove. No. Something to inflict on others to reduce risk.”
Heikin ducked low to his knees as the slime slid under the orc’s towering form.
Cleaving the tendons of the orc’s ankels like butchers work.

The monster fell to his knees with a thud.
“Time to evolve.”
He shoved an arm in the creature's mouth.
Letting it become gelatinous as fluid pours down the ogre's gullet.
[SYSTEM NOTICE]
[trait Elemental Infusion elevated from increased use]
[Trait evolving to...Elemental Core Shift]
[Temporarily switch elemental affinity (fire, lightning, etc.) based on previously absorbed ores.]
Heikin allows himself a smirk.
“If survival requires becoming something unrecognizable, then the shape of the thing didn’t matter. Only its function.”
He shifts his gelatinous form to a fire element.
Now glowing a brilliant orange and yellow hue through the monster's throat.
The blazing heat burns the creature from within.
“Goblins!” he orders. “Pull his arms down by your rope. Can’t let him get a chance to counter.”
The goblins rush ahead to tie down the behemoth, as a dance of fire and sparks courses through the ogre.
Cooking him alive like a fresh meal.
“This resolves itself, one way or another,” Heikin exclaims as specks of blood shot out of his mouth onto the cave floor.
“I’m done being dim. I’ve finished optimizing this.”
The ogre thrashes in agony as flames and electricity erupt from within, turning its massive body into a charred husk.
“Victory is ours!” The goblins cheer while trying to avoid getting burned.
Heikin pulls back as the ogre sinks to the floor like an overused charcoal.
He doesn’t allow himself respite. Already analyzing the victory.
His mind plays back the battle like a film reel.
“I used more force than necessary.” He says as he morphs into full gelatin, now absorbing the ogre’s flesh and bone like fleshly ground compost.
“Fear increased reaction time variance by 0.4 seconds.”
“Unacceptable.” He remarked.
His body grows significantly, absorbing the ogre's powerful magical core and gaining new abilities.
The dungeon quest reward for defeating the boss appears.
[Would you like to accept?] The system prompts while Heikin’s minions watch in awe.
“Yes. Accept rewards.” He replies flatly.
A bright light envelops him, body now pulsing with new power.
[Congratulations on leveling up to Tier -1]
[You have gained access to advanced body transformation abilities.]
His eyebrow lifts with calculated interest.
“New factors at play?” Heikin thought.
He finished his feast, now morphing back into a goblin.
He could feel it.
It was stronger now, more durable.
Denser bone structure.
[SYSTEM NOTICE]
[Humanoid variant unlocked - Greater Hobgoblin]
The system displays several intricate diagrams and descriptions of advanced shapeshifting.
[You can create hybrid forms that combine multiple species’ traits.]
[SYSTEM NOTICE]
[Elemental Core Shift, combining with Skill: Biological Integration...]
[New trait acquired....Bio-Elemental Shifter]
[New combined effect: Use traits from different absorbed species (e.g., spider eyes + rodent senses = thermal/night vision).
[Merge elemental traits with physical traits (e.g., Wings from bats + Fire core = flying fire predator). Shift between fire, lightning, water, or pure acid forms depending on tactical needs.]
Heikin’s eyes bulge for just a moment.
He knew his spoils of war would be adequate.
But this...
He didn’t anticipate this in his forecast.
“A new layer for my system. How....tantalizing.”
Heikin lifts up his right hand.
He closes his eyes.
Brain chemistry now altering with internal focus.
Molding a chosen limb to his design.
It forms into an ogre's razor claw.
“Lets experiment a bit more...” Heikin thought.
The clawed hand covered itself in a warm heat.
Flaming sparks dance at the fingertips.
“Looks like the numbers game has shifted.” He abstracted.
“Let's go, minions.” He says while looking up ahead toward the dungeon's exit.
“There's a new system to disrupt on the horizon.”
As Heikin and his followers reached the surface, he felt the sun's warmth on his body.
[Welcome to the world above] The system notified.
His goblin minions excitedly pointed at various things like trees and birds.
“First on the agenda....”
The slime pondered.
“Names.” He says flatly as he eyes the two goblinoid kin.
“I never got your names. What should I call you both?”
He gestures between them and the dungeon.
“You're useful assets, so it’s more convenient if I had names for you.”
The goblins look at each other nervously before speaking up.
“I'm called Gobrin!” The one with a torn ear says while the other bows.
“And I'm Grok! Thank you for asking, master!” The taller one says gruffly. But with just as much enthusiasm.
Heikin nods once.
“Let’s hide nearby first. I can transform into other creatures when I get the chance to consume them.”
He heads towards the nearby foliage.
“Since we will explore the surface now. I need a human form to blend in.”
His voice drops slightly. Colder, more calculated.
“That means stalking and waiting for someone to come by the dungeon for an adventure.”
He settles into a lush green bush.
“Unbeknownst to them. They're going to be our new proxies to get past the city gates.”
Heikin didn’t learn humility.
He learned fear is inefficient.
He isn’t becoming less human.
He’s becoming someone who plans to outgrow it.
