  Chapter 20: Blessed, The Altars of Fate.

  ~~~ [START]
  A rumbling erupted, causing the clouds, which were above a darkening sky, to descend. And although the dissension was haste, it held a touch of the unnatural.
  “Well… do you?!” Troy’s voice cut louder. His body braced, with his eyes locked directly onto Carlisle, who was walking in front of those who approached beside him.
  “We didn’t come for a fight!” Carlisle tried to assure, but the closer he stepped forward, the more the vibrations below his feet intensified. Then he shot a glance behind him. “Jasper, stop.”
  Jasper blinked, nodded, while simultaneously halting the use of his abilities on Troy.
  And for Troy, the sudden jolt of fear he had been experiencing for the past ten minutes vanished.
  RAMBLE!
  “We aren’t here to fight—”
  “Bullshit!” Troy interrupted Carlisle’s words. And his eyes turned to Jasper, who, much as he would expect, had eyes that fell toward the colour of blood.
  “Honey,” Edward said in grunts, still struggling to get into Troy’s mind. “We just need her—”
  “You think I’m stupid!” Troy vanished after his words. And then he appeared right in front of them in that instant. His figure didn’t even dare to leave behind blurs when it happened.
  Emmett turned his eyes beside him first, and a wind-like force slammed onto his face, sending him soaring through the wind and sliding on the ground twenty feet away.
  And the second, when both Edward and Carlisle noticed, right when they shifted their eyes beside them, Jasper was gone.
  RAMBLE!
  Until he was slammed onto the floor head-first thirty feet away near Emmett, who was still finding it difficult to rise because of his creaked skin.
  And Jasper screamed in agony, so in so that both Edward and Carlisle vanished in a sprint without question.
  And much like him, they were face to face with Troy, who, unlike them, was still crouching down, still holding Jasper’s head below the dirt.
  Edward moved first, sending a kick toward Troy’s face, but the foot halted before it reached a hair’s length. And as if by magic, the kick repelled as Newton’s third law took its effect, while simultaneously breaking all logic.
  Carlisle’s eyes widened when Edward was sent rolling on the floor behind him, with his entire leg completely shattered from the force.
  Anger boiled within him; the type he withheld for the longest of centuries.
  But this time, unlike Edward, when Carlisle threw an attack in the form of a punch, Troy actually caught it.
  Unlike the last time, Troy had now risen to his feet, palm completely withholding Carlisle’s hand with his fingers.
  Carlisle’s eyes unintentionally trailed below him, and the horror he witnessed sent him the utmost of dread.
  Jasper was dead.
  His head was now completely severed from his body, with its skin now turned pale as ice.
  “No…” Carlisle’s voice was barely a whisper. “Why… why, why—?”
  THUD!
  Unexpectedly, his head split next.
  Soaring through the air and rolling near Emmett, his whole body mimicked tattered concrete. He couldn’t even scream for the man he considered a parent, but he wanted to.
  So, with all the endurance in his muscles, he pushed himself up, but it was too much, because, from nothing but Troy’s single step, the ground below them creaked open, and with it, Emmett stumbled and shattered when he fell.
  Beside them, Edward, whose eyes were alternating between shock and disbelief, couldn’t even scream; he couldn’t even whisper for help.
  Maybe that’s why the heavens hinted at the assault; maybe that’s why their power graced their magic with pity.
  Because in the next second—
  “Alice!” Edward jolted Alice awake. She had passed out. “What do you mean ‘we weren’t supposed to let the shifters chase us?!’”
  Maybe that’s when Alice finally realised that everything that happened up to their deaths was all but a vision.
  All but a glimpse at a possible future. It all hadn’t happened yet.
  {ELSEWHERE}
  In the past, or in this case, a past that shouldn’t exist.
  “Don’t worry, there’s… there’s nothing to worry about, okay?” Troy said to Honey, who nodded at his words with a fake act of understanding.
  Troy stood up, then, in a blur, dashed toward the exit. And in a warp of a second, he vanished and reappeared outside the door, while she collapsed behind him in drunkenness, still comforted by the warm heater within it, while the cold wind on the outside assaulted its blows onto Troy’s hair.
  Then, on the horizon, a single figure emerged, completely draped in darkness, with a height too short to overlook.
  And this time, unlike the last possible future, Troy said nothing.
  His eyes only locked on it with hesitation. And even then, he made no attempt to halt its near. He just stood there until it was closer than a breath apart.
  “Hey,” the creature said, too close for any comfort.
  Then, after hesitation’s halt, as if bewitched, Troy replied, “Hey.”
  ~~~ [END]

  Okay, lol, now let’s talk about it. Yes, the reason Troy seemed so scared at first was because of Jasper; they were outside his house, and stuff, and yes, all of that was Alice’s vision. If you finished my last Twilight book, you know where I got that idea from.

  Go ahead, ask me questions. And no, if you are confused, it’s not you, I’m just a bad writer lol, but I’ll improve.

  Tell me if you liked the chapter or not.
