Ice is Strong? It is in Pokémon Realm
Even with the blood of his ancestors Creig was cold, cold all the way down to his bones. Even the snowbound vacations he had taken never made him feel like this. He'd even come close to death a few times, that cold was very different, that was more a falling to neutrality feeling. Then warmth, but only on his skin, it was enough to fall to true sleep though.
Creig awoke in something between a hospital and hotel room. In a story a persons priority might be the 5 W's and How, finding nothing which would compel him to remain in the bed Creigs' first call was the bathroom. It was the mirror while he washed his hands that such thoughts briefly crossed his mind. Creig double checked himself, Blond, no, Icy blue?, Skin, Paler than normal, Eyes, Green, no-again, White with Snowflake patterns?, separate ones for each eye, age? regressed by 5-10 years, He was now 16-19 years old. And that blasted unnatural cold was still there, but other than the cold Creig did not feel unnatural. Seeing nothing that answered his questions within the room, or a way to call people to give such Creig left the room.
Reaching the lobby Creig saw what wasn't in existence in his life before now. "You're a fantasy character", a far less rude thing to say than to imply the person before him didn't exist. The pink haired woman looked over to him, the pink haired Nurse, his brain would adjust if the person before him did not say they were a cosplayer.
She in fact said "Oh, good morning" and with a tilt of her head, finger resting upon her jaw continued "that is certainly a strange first thing to say to a person"
An agreeing call of "Chansey" ruined all hope of the nurse being a cos player.
Creig blinked setting the dawning reality to process in his subconscious while he delt with here and now. Analyzing his state the nurse powered on "Disassociation with reality? A result of trauma? or just temporary confusion?" Creig was glad his words conveyed, somewhat his state of distress (of being physically lost, not of mental breakdown). "Still shivering despite adequate room temperature, Eyes focused....strange pupil patterning, stiff motor function, but no other signs of physical distress"
After a quick Heal Pulse which did nothing more than make him feel tingly, for which he gave head pats while still focusing on Nurse Joy, he cleared his throat having processed enough of the situation to speak. "Temporary confusion, caused by, I believe, that I am similar to what is known as a faller". Nurse Joys' lack of familiarity with the term indicated by her held tilt once again. "I believe, if it's not in your database you may ask your Interpol for details" an eyebrow raise for that "I would prefer to have my mental faculties questioned after you know what that is, as for things that immediate aid may be offered unto me, I do not remember my body being quite this young, or my hair and eye colors being what they are." With her looking like her brain was changing what Creig said, he clarified "I have memory of what I should look like, it just does not match my current state, more concerningly, while my skin does agree the temperature is mild, my bones feel like they exposed in subarctic temperatures in a blizzard, and whatever is doing that also feels like it stunting my emotions a bit, Tests would be agreeable". Creig felt like he had spoken in excess, though he knew in fact he conveyance was concise.
Nurse Joy typed something into her console, Creig could not tell what. "uhmm..., that all is a bit strange, in multiple ways, and may take a little for me to understand, you were given a basic physical assessment when brought in and other than your current.... peculiarities are in fine health, I do need a clarification on your statement about your emotions to determine how to prognosis though."
Creig felt there was a lack of what he should clarify, and indicated so, "what, am I, in particular, clarifying?" he found he had to purposefully make his face quizzical as it did not do so automatically, he was not used to being stone faced.
"how did you notice the abnormality in your emotions? please"
"Ah, when Chancey here attempted Heal Pulse, normally I feel gratitude, but this time, my show of gratitude was just following habit, I hope I do not offend, Chancey, I should feel gratitude, and my lack of distress that I should be feeling at that and I'm not, is by logic a concern. I remember reacting with proper emotion to such kindness in the past and my ingrained habits point to such not being false...., yes, please fix?"
"Chan, Chan-sey, Chansey" The pokemons inflection made Creig think, it was a bit sad/disappointed, but patients were to be helped, and would, for now accept his thoughtfulness.
"Well" began Nurse Joy "I believe a quick scan can inform us of what may be the problem, I think I have an idea as to the problem, please follow me"
Following Nurse Joy to a public treatment room, and taking a seat, Chansey hauled in a medium machine. It was explained that while somewhat invasive, there were no side effects to the scan, as it was low power and was designed to not interact beyond retrieving information. Creig laid back on the chair and resolved to sit still till the machine finished.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nurse Joy was quite confuddled, having never dealt with someone quite like the young man in her care. Some of that could probably be chalked up to him having lingering foreign type energy in his system, which he was now being tested for. Now her reception computer was giving her trouble, the browser screen was frozen, just that one screen, but it represented a possible greater problem.
"Excuse me" came a calm voice, looking up Nurse Joy saw a young lilac haired woman in a business suit.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
"Someone here seems to have tripped a flagged search term". The freeze on her console now started to make sense.
Nurse Joy broached the subject carefully "I believe this shall be more complicated than you may desire" which got her a complicated look from the stranger. "I have a patient who recently claimed to be similar\* to a "faller"". The young ladies face scrunched in a look of #Hard-part-of-job-to-face with anticipation of headache. "He recommended I look up what it means before assessing him mentally"
"May I see this patient"
"To an extent, strangely, I believe you are anticipated" Now her own face was scrunching and she was wringing her hands. With a sigh she led the young lady. The scan results should be finished soon anyway.
Upon seeing the young lady, in his strange almost computer like way, her patient said "Anabel, psychic, Interpol version, faller, I wonder what they did about the Ultra Space Energy problem?" Her patient purposefully had to move his face to show curiosity, something he seemed troubled by, also her visitor was now stock still, Nurse Joy had no idea how much of what he said was correct, but one thing stuck out to her.
"Interpol version?"
"Mirror dimensions, she may or may not be the exact same person as Anabel, Frontier Brain of the Battle Frontier, Hoenn Branch, Do all possible versions of oneself share a singular soul?, Only being who look upon the foundation of reality know. What region am I in anyway?"
Nurse Joy did not want to think on most of that, and it was apparently giving her other guest something of a conniption as well. "You're between Hoenn and Unova actually, and if their is interest the Frontier Anabel will be having a broadcasted match tomorrow". The young lady found a chair to sit in and put her head in her hands while leaning over, exasperation, stress, oncoming headache. She was afraid she might be the same later.
The young lady spoke up "The fact you know things you shouldn't proves both you're not crazy, and you're not a faller, Celeby incident perhaps?"
"No, we should have some mercy on Nurse Joy, and see if she desires to hear more or not"
Very quickly Nurse Joy said "Not, please" and in a small voice, slightly guilty "sorry" to both of them. "I'll be out of the way just as soon as I read these results!". Quick initial look told her Ice type energy was the problem, a closer look had her widening her eyes. The energy had been injected recently, but it had been fused to his being, with no sign of the natural presence of type energy people usually had having existed before hand. The results may be relevant to the conversation Anabel and her patient were about to have. A good portion of her did not wish to believe these results, but today common sense was being defied left and right it seemed. In a small voice "this may be relevant" Her patient turned to listen, Anabel turned to listen with dread "His results show he was recently infused with a large amount of Ice type energy and it was bonded to him....., he also shows no signs of priorly having, any type energy at all!!" Anabel groaned, Her patient blink owlishly in a bit of shock. "The chills and emotional dulling, and likely your current hair and eye color come from lack of control of this energy" before protests could be made "as a medical authority, I'm calling in a specialist, Glacia, yes that one, because my patient may be unstable, Chansey will lead you to a containment room after your talk, so if you were hoping to take my patient to hiding miss. Anabel, I have to insist otherwise, you are welcome to stay here in the meantime while things get sorted, after the mess that has begun is finished being made". She then hurried away to make a phone call, Anabel groaning in the background, and informing Chansey on her way. While she could only leave a message the call was the most calming thing today, despite calling one of the Elite Four.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anabel was having a day to say the least. She had come in expecting a leak, or a rebellious protection target, not someone totally outside the system. From Nurse Joys' words as she left, someone from a dimension at least somewhat foreign to their own. Then there was how his mind functioned, it was more foreign to her than others, his thoughts were deeper than most, making him say blank to her senses. Too deep for her situational permissions on mind reading. Nurse Joy distancing herself from this as much as possible was understandable, Anabel wished she could. Walking in and being identified immediately was disconcerting enough as is, but she had a dread in her gut that this was going to be complicated and weird. And she knew he was sure of who she was as his knowledge of her flashed in his consciousness for a moment, as well as the typical mating assessment, though in this case the rare consideration of being family was also there. Finding her thoughts straying towards being annoyed by all the people who foolishly be all *she's a child*, *such thoughts are unnatural*, Anabel knew these thought were in fact instinctual towards anyone old enough to physically create a child, and without them life would go extinct -an experiment had been run on removal of such thoughts which ended with subjects dead of lethargy or suicide- ,And a small voice in the back of her own mind was whispering her interest in the other Anabel, she focused her thoughts. Nurse Joys question about the version and subsequent mention of the match helped quiet and excuse her own curiosity, she steeled her thoughts on the now.
The revelation of the Ice energy further pointed to him being a dimensional foreigner, Nurse Joy calling in an Elite 4 member was not a welcome development, especially since the events were being locked to this location. The implication that her subject might unintentionally freeze his surroundings was sufficient reason.
Anabel had almost been off duty, now before the conversation resumed she was sending Looker a text: Non-E, Help required, extent under assm. And popped headache meds, contrary to popular belief psychics were more susceptible than others.
"So" Anabel began "to start more properly, what is your name?"
"Creig Furson"
"you have memories about the world, how much do you know?"
"Preface: I know of three possible {main} timelines, with a minor look into several others and understand that they are but a few of an unknown amount of mirror dimensions, also where I am from pokemon only existed as a fantasy franchise"
Anabel could sense that Creig was not lying, and showed no signs that his memories were altered or implanted. Anabel started to wonder if the meds would be enough. His words indicated he was unsure how much he knew was relevant and true to this timeline. "lets start with general knowledge, what regions you have heard of as an example"
"Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh/Hisui, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, Paldea,... Fiore?, Oblivia?, Almia?, Ransei, Ferrum?, Orre"
"Not a lot overall, but a few non-league regions, Ferrum and Ransei are regions that, as far as is known don't exist" First signs of the unreliability of his knowledge, though it was not significant. "Champions of the League regions?"
"that is slightly dependent on when we are, Kanto/Johto: Samuel Oak, none, Red, or Lance Blackthorn, Hoenn: Steven Stone, or Wallace, Sinnoh: Cynthia, Unova: Alder or Iris, Kalos: Diantha, Alola: not yet a league?, Galar: Peony or Leon, Paldea: Geeta"
"Oak and Peony are retired, Wallace, Iris, Diantha are not champions, correct on Alola, and Paldea is unknown to Interpol." Anabel did a few more basics, Gym Leader names, Town names, Creig interjected with Legendaries, which almost caused her to panic, especially when he almost started rambling about his theories about their hierarchy, Anabel stopped this before it truly started, someone else, a professor (which she also asked which he knew of) could deal with that bag of worms. Regional starts, he struggled with moves and abilities, but that seemed a quirk rather than a problem, like how some struggle with math. The non pokemon knowledge was more robust than usual though. A couple hours of such saw Anabel quite exhausted and heading towards a deep sleep, after checking her phone to see if Looker replied. Two messages were waiting, the first acknowledging and asking when she would be back, the second was: [it's going to be a mess isn't it. PLS update ASAP]. She replied: {CMPLX, INFsec, Co-op, but non-MV, Joy called E4 Glacia SPC/CNS] and fell asleep leaving the consequences for tomorrow.
