[EAST PATH - SECOND CHAMPION - 2 HOURS LATER]
[Current Team Status (Post-Rest):]
Alex HP: 880/880, MP: 440/440 (fully recovered)
Grim HP: 1,200/1,200, MP: 360/360
Seraph HP: 1,400/1,400, MP: 700/700
Maya HP: 1,200/1,200, MP: 850/850
Raven HP: 900/900, MP: 650/650
They entered the east path.
This chamber was different—smaller, darker, filled with shadows that seemed to move independently.
And in the center—
[Fallen Champion: Thomas Darkblade]
[Level: 45]
[HP: 4,500/4,500]
[Class: Master Assassin]
[Skills: [Backstab], [Shadow Step], [Poison Strike], [Vanish], [Death Mark]]
A slender figure in black leather armor. Two daggers, each dripping with green poison. Face hidden behind a mask.
"Thomas," Viktor said quietly through the communicator. "He was my best assassin. Could kill level 50+ targets without being detected."
"Great," said Raven. "My class. This'll be personal."
Thomas didn't speak. He simply... disappeared.
[Vanish - Activated]
"Scatter!" Seraph shouted. "Don't group up! He needs to isolate us!"
But Thomas was a level 45 master assassin. He didn't need them to group up.
He appeared behind Alex—the weakest target.
"Alex!" Maya shouted—
Thomas struck.
But Grim had anticipated this—spun, blocking with his scythe.
CLANG.
Thomas's daggers rebounded.
"Smart protector," Thomas hissed—the first words he'd spoken. "But not... enough."
He vanished again.
This time he appeared behind Raven.
[Backstab]
Daggers sinking into her back.
[Critical Hit!]
[Raven HP: 900 → 450/900]
[Poison Applied: -50 HP per second for 10 seconds]
"SHIT!" Raven spun, [Blood Whip] trying to catch him—
But Thomas was already gone.
"I can't track him!" Raven gasped, drinking an antidote potion. "He's too fast!"
Alex activated [Soul Sight].
[MP: 420/440]
He could see Thomas's aura now—moving through shadows like a shark through water.
"Ten meters to my left!" Alex shouted. "Maya, [Fox Fire] there!"
Maya didn't question—launched projectiles where Alex indicated.
IMPACT.
Thomas was forced into visibility.
[Thomas HP: 4,500 → 4,000/4,500]
This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
"Clever trick," Thomas said. "But I have... more."
[Death Mark]
He pointed at Alex.
A black mark appeared on Alex's forehead—visible only to Thomas.
[Death Mark: Target marked. Thomas's next attack is guaranteed critical hit against marked target.]
"Alex is marked!" Seraph shouted. "Grim, protect him!"
Grim immediately moved in front of Alex, full Awakened Form activating.
Thomas vanished again.
Ten seconds of tension. Twenty.
Then—he appeared, not behind Alex but—
Behind Maya.
"Deception," he whispered, [Backstab] striking.
[Critical Hit!]
[Maya HP: 1,200 → 600/1,200]
"NO!" Alex used [Shadow Step], appeared beside Thomas, [Blood Weapon] materializing a sword.
[MP: 400 → 350/440]
He struck—
Thomas blocked, counterattacked—
Seraph intervened, [Phantom Strike] forcing him back.
[Thomas HP: 4,000 → 3,500/4,500]
The battle became a cat and mouse game for fifteen minutes.
Thomas used [Vanish] six times.
[Backstab] successful on Maya two more times, Raven once more, Seraph once.
By minute 15, everyone was injured and paranoid.
[Team Status:]
Alex HP: 880/880 (Grim protected him perfectly), MP: 200/440
Grim HP: 950/1,200, MP: 200/360
Seraph HP: 1,000/1,400, MP: 500/700
Maya HP: 300/1,200 (critical), MP: 650/850
Raven HP: 250/900 (critical), MP: 450/650
"We can't keep going like this!" Raven gasped. "He's bleeding us dry!"
"We need to force him into direct combat," said Seraph. "Ideas?"
Alex thought quickly. "What if we... remove the shadows?"
"What?" Maya looked at him confused.
"Use [Nine-Tails Inferno]. Light up the whole room. No shadows, he can't use [Vanish]."
"That'll drain all my MP," Maya warned.
"Do it," Alex said. "We'll finish this quickly after."
Maya nodded, Akari growing to full form.
"Everyone, cover your eyes!"
[Nine-Tails Inferno - Illumination Mode]
Not aimed as an attack—aimed as a massive light source.
All nine tails blazed simultaneously, turning the entire chamber bright as noon.
[Maya MP: 650 → 0/850]
There were no shadows. Anywhere.
Thomas appeared, visible—and vulnerable.
"NO!"
"NOW!" Seraph roared.
Everyone attacked simultaneously:
· Seraph: [Soul Reaping] (cut his [Vanish] ability)
· Grim: [Death's Reaping Strike]
· Alex: [Blood Weapon] massive rain
· Raven (despite being injured): [Blood Needles] precisely aimed
Thomas couldn't dodge. Couldn't vanish. Couldn't block everything.
[Thomas HP: 3,500 → 800/4,500]
He fell to one knee.
"Clever... Viktor... would have... been proud..."
Grim finished with a mercy kill.
[Thomas Darkblade: Defeated]
[Souls Collected: +7.5]
[EXP Gained: +3,500]
[Current Souls: 311.6/1,000]
[East Key Obtained: 2/3]
Maya collapsed, completely MP drained. "Never... make me do that... again..."
"You were incredible," Alex said, helping her up.
Raven also collapsed, backstab wounds finally taking their toll.
"We need... a long rest," she gasped. "Really long."
They agreed—returned to the safe room again.
This time they rested for two full hours. Ate proper meals. Used their best potions. Bandaged properly.
[Time Remaining: 64:45:00]
Still well within time. But one more champion to go.
And everyone knew who it would be.

[WEST PATH - THIRD CHAMPION - 4 HOURS INTO LEVEL 2]
[Current Team Status (Post-Long Rest):]
Alex HP: 880/880, MP: 440/440
Grim HP: 1,200/1,200, MP: 360/360
Seraph HP: 1,400/1,400, MP: 700/700
Maya HP: 1,200/1,200, MP: 850/850
Raven HP: 900/900, MP: 650/650
They entered the west path.
The chamber was the largest yet—50 meters by 50 meters, ceiling arching 20 meters high. Walls covered in glowing runes. And in the center—
[Fallen Champion: Sarah Thornwood]
[Level: 48]
[HP: 8,000/8,000]
[Class: Battle Archmage]
[Skills: [Meteor Swarm], [Chain Lightning], [Arcane Missiles], [Mana Shield], [Spellsteal], [Time Dilation]]
A woman in elaborate robes, a battle staff blazing with arcane power. Hair floating as if underwater. Eyes glowing with pure arcane light.
Unlike the others, she spoke immediately—voice clear, almost alive.
"Viktor..." She turned her head toward the communicator Alex carried. "I know you're listening. I know you sent others to finish what we couldn't."
Pause.
"It's okay. This... is mercy. Thank you."
Then she raised her staff.
"But first... I must test if they're worthy."
[Boss Fight: Sarah Thornwood - Begins]
Sarah didn't wait—attacked immediately
[Meteor Swarm]
Five meteors materialized above the ceiling, raining down.
"SCATTER!" Seraph shouted.
Everyone ran—meteors impacted where they'd been, leaving smoking craters.
[Chain Lightning]
Lightning shot from Sarah's staff, jumping between targets.
It hit Alex—
[Alex HP: 880 → 650/880]
Jumped to Raven—
[Raven HP: 900 → 680/900]
Jumped to Maya—
[Maya HP: 1,200 → 980/1,200]
Three hit in one second.
"Her DPS is massive!" Maya shouted. "We can't tank this!"
"Don't tank!" Seraph responded. "She's a glass mage! Attack hard and fast!"
Easier said than done.
Sarah activated [Mana Shield]—a shield absorbing 3,000 damage before her HP took damage.
Then she began moving—not walking, but teleporting around the room in short bursts.
[Arcane Missiles]
Fifty projectiles shot from her staff like a machine gun.
Grim blocked most, but some got through—
Alex took three.
[Alex HP: 650 → 500/880]
"Shit!" Alex rolled behind a pillar.
"We need to break the shield!" Seraph shouted. "Everyone, coordinated attack in three!"
They counted.
"ONE!"
They prepared their strongest skills.
"TWO!"
Sarah teleported again, appeared on the other side—
"THREE!"
They attacked where she HAD been, not where she was now.
They missed.
"Damn it!" Seraph cursed. "She's predicting our moves!"
"Because she fought with Viktor for years," said Raven. "She knows standard tactics!"
Alex thought frantically. We need to do something unexpected. Something she wouldn't anticipate...
Then he had it.
"Grim!" he shouted. "[Blood-Forged Bond]!"
[Combined Skill Activated]
[Alex + Grim HP: Combined into single pool]
[Alex HP: 500 + Grim HP: 1,200 = 1,700/2,080]
Alex's blood flowed into Grim, merging temporarily.
Sarah hesitated—this was NOT a tactic Viktor had used.
Alex exploited the half-second of confusion.
"[Shadow Step]!" He appeared directly in front of Sarah—melee range.
[MP: 420/440]
She reacted, beginning to cast—
"[Blood Weapon - Overload]!" Alex channeled 200 MP into a single massive crimson sword.
[MP: 420 → 220/440]
He struck the [Mana Shield].
CRACK.
The shield cracked—but held.
[Mana Shield: 3,000 → 1,200/3,000]
But that was enough distraction—
Seraph appeared from behind (she'd been flanking), [Soul Reaper Mode] active.
The spectral scythe cut through the remaining shield.
[Mana Shield: DESTROYED]
Sarah now vulnerable—
[Meteor Swarm]
Five meteors materialized in emergency, all aimed downward in a suicidal PB AoE.
"EVERYONE, GET BACK!" Alex shouted.
But Grim didn't retreat.
[Grave Domain - Maximum]
Absolute darkness exploded, absorbing the meteors before they could impact.
[Grim HP: 1,700 → 900/2,080 (shared with Alex)]
The cost was high, but it prevented a TPK.
Sarah hesitated—MP exhaustion showing.
[Sarah MP: 1,500/2,000 → 200/2,000]
"Vulnerable now," she breathed. "Finish it... quickly..."
Maya needed no further invitation.
[Nine-Tails Inferno]
A column of multicolored fire consumed Sarah.
[Sarah HP: 8,000 → 3,000/8,000]
Raven launched [Blood Whip], entangling her legs.
Seraph executed [Phantom Strike] five-hit combo.
[Sarah HP: 3,000 → 800/8,000]
Sarah fell to her knees, staff dropping from her grasp.
She looked up, eyes returning to human for a moment.
"Viktor... Tell him... it wasn't... his fault... We all... chose... to be here..."
Tears—real, salty—ran down her cheeks before evaporating.
"And tell him... I forgave him... long ago..."
Then she closed her eyes.
Grim delivered the mercy kill—quick, painless.
[Sarah Thornwood: Released]
[Souls Collected: +10.0]
[EXP Gained: +4,000]
[Alex: Level 27 → 28]
[Current Souls: 321.6/1,000]
Her body didn't dissolve into ash. Instead—golden light enveloped her, lifting her gently, and then she disappeared into bright particles that floated upward like stars.
Through the communicator, they heard Viktor—the man who never showed emotion—sob.
"Sarah... I'm so sorry... I'm so sorry..."
No one spoke for several minutes. They just stood there, in the silent chamber, processing what had just happened.
Finally, the third key appeared, floating where Sarah had been.
[West Key Obtained: 3/3]
[All Keys Collected]
[Central Door to Level 3: Unlocked]
