I am glad you all noticed something was amiss, Viraa said in a motherly tone. Do be cautious when consuming Flows food. Her cooking is known to be...addictive as a side effect of her Itis ability that she imbues in the foods she personally prepares.
Flow frowned at Avarice and looked at the other guests.
"If you ask me, that's a flaw in our design. Who would want to miss out on the various flavors that await our tongues!? Food is life for so many species, yet so many of our kind refuse to indulge. It's tragic! It makes me want to cry..."
After seeing the effects on the others and receiving Viraa's warning, we each politely declined the food offered. I even went as far as to telepathically tell them not to eat a single thing until we left that district. Despite the smiles and vibrant atmosphere, this place somehow terrified her.
I don't need you to tell me that. Even one bite of this food will lead us to the same state as everyone else here, Avarice returned, guarded.
We'd better leave before they tempt us somehow, then, Za'Fia suggested.
"I'm so sorry, but we don't have time to sit and eat as we thought. I have a busy day, you know, as Crest Head, and I must pay my respects to the others, so we really must be going. Perhaps next time?" I said politely as we slowly crept away.
"Aw, you won't try even one cupcake?" Naida said, waving one out for one of us to grab. "It's really good, I promise. Here. Just one..."
"No thanks, I don't consume food that often. I tend to stay away from it for the most part," Avarice insisted.
Flow's mood abruptly changed without warning, becoming violent as she threw the kitchen knife through the cooking table she stood at. Some food was wasted, and she quickly returned to normal before saying, "That's disappointing. I've already prepared the seafood, but I won't take it to heart. I'm sure Sunce would love a surprise spread. Next time, when you have less on your plate then..."
"Right...," Za'Fia said unenthusiastically. Might wanna leave before she snaps and force feeds us.
I completely agreed. Moments later, we were rocketing back to the surface of the ocean, leaving the lights of Mystus far below us. Once we breached the surface and were high in the sky, heading to our next destination, I sighed, tired from the constant meet and greets, and asked how many more districts we had to visit until we could go to the zasshu's region?
