Somewhere within the Quantum Realm
Not too long ago, during Lexi’s preparations
The Quantum Ruler feels relief washing over him after seeing Lexi manage to escape the attackers. And he’s not the only one as he sees his son looking just as relieved as him within his own area of the Quantum Realm.
This was the very first time the Quantum Ruler has ever felt even the slightest desire to break the rules and attack mortals. All just to save his granddaughter.
But a mere slight desire can never overshadow the millions of years he’s spent conditioning himself as the perfect Quantum Ruler.
So he stayed his hand.
Meanwhile the Quantum Architect, his son, clearly wanted to help even more than he did. But unlike the Quantum Ruler, the Quantum Architect simply doesn’t have the power to do so even if he broke the rules.
All the Architect would be able to do before being sealed in punishment would be killing a few of them. Cutting their numbers down by barely a fraction in the process.
The Architect may be a Quantum Being, but he is not a combat oriented Quantum Being.
Even the Quantum Vanguard could defeat the Quantum Architect without much trouble should they fight without using authority. Despite the Vanguard being the seventh ranked in the hierarchy while the Architect is the second ranked.
All because the Vanguard specializes in combat while the Architect specializes in creation and design.
Of course, the rules dictate the hierarchy, making it impossible for the Vanguard to ever come out on top. Since all the Architect would need to do is order him to stand still and he would easily win.

Nothing can break the rules and go unpunished.
The universe is fair towards all.
Quantum Beings are granted power by the universe with the discretion to use it as they please so that they can fulfill their roles. And if they decide to use their power against other beings of the universe that are not marked for elimination, then the universe will determine a fitting punishment.
Because the power of a Quantum Being is far greater than a regular mortal when used in full. And that alone is unfair.
The universe doesn’t care if hundreds of beings are attacking the Quantum Being at once. Using the universe’s power to fight against a regular mortal is considered unfair.
And the universe won’t allow that to pass.
After all, if the Quantum Being is killed, the universe can just replace them. But the universe’s laws must be upheld.
The rules of the universe are absolute after all.
That’s how the Quantum Ruler has always viewed things. Even if the universe itself is largely unable to think or make clear decisions based on anything but instinct.
The Quantum Ruler’s even noticed that the universe has started usurping parts of the System created by his son just to express some of its desires. Relaying its instinctive desires and beliefs to the System for the System to translate into text.
It makes the Quantum Ruler wonder if one day the universe may actually gain a will of its own.
But until then, the rules are absolute.
And only an irregular Quantum Being could ever possibly change that.
A Quantum Being whose entire role is to act as a weapon for the universe.
The Quantum Ruler taps his finger on his throne as he watches his granddaughter train her newly slotted skills before finally entering the dungeon again to take on her last challenge before Ascending.
And she is also a devourer. The lone species in the universe that destroys the balance and most of the time gets away with it.
A species disconnected from the universe in many ways.
Albeit an unawakened devourer.
But once she reaches Ascendant Tier, she will no longer be unawakened.
The Ruler can’t help but wonder just what sorts of changes will occur once she awakens as a devourer as well as a Quantum Reaper.
And if the universe will still be able to control her like it’s been doing. Like it’s done to every other Quantum Being.
Because, when two anomalies mix, interesting things always happen.
Things no one can ever predict or control.
