123. To Make Up For An Error

  Hmmm...

  Oh, very well then.

I suppose we shall be requiring yet one more chapter.

  Indeed.

Why, I could obviously choose to tell a short story here.

'Twould be most fitting, I would say.

Even so, do allow me to continue with the tale.

  Indeed.

And of the very same, following the removal of the lead male of the group, did the young lad run off, returning to the very set of carriages comprised of his allies.

  Indeed.

Why, all the same, did the very set of them remain silently waiting...

  All the while, slightly anxiously...

  For, indeed...

The lad had left and there also had them to wait.

However and even so, did the young lad return in what amounted to a not very long period of time.

  Indeed.

Why, they did hear him racing towards them...

All the same, did he leap right back within the coil, all before promptly walking inside the very carriage...

  Opening the door...

Well, you know how that works...

  Obviously...

And of the very same, why...

Did the very man by the name of Fren Chavalier open the door...

  Asking...

Fren: Is everything well now, dear lad?

And of it, did the lad respond most quickly and straightforwardly.

  Jake: Yes.

'Tis of warriors not to tell every little detail to those they defend.

'Tis something I did tell you of earlier.

  Yes...

All the same, did they all continue with their very quest.

Why, did Fren Chavalier say loudly to them all...

Fren: The danger has been averted!

  Indeed.

  And thereof, I say...

Did Reginald Walterson open his own window and return with...

Reginald: Very well then. We must make haste.

  And so did Madam Thornberry...

  Nancy: Indeed and indubitably.

Why, the very lot of them had already lost quite a bit of time with all the things that did happen about them.

And even with that all, why...

Did they all, all the very five, get onto the bicycles and prepare to move yet once more.

  Fren: Onwards then!

Following of course the very closure of these carriages.

Why, closing and opening them, I say...

'Tis yet another form of security.

All the same, did the very five of them and the young lad find themselves afoot once more...

  And thereof, I say...

Was it as they did travel several moments forward...

That they did come across a massive bump on the trail...

'Twas nothing that did halt them...

Why, it merely managed to slow them down...

  And thereof, I say...

Would the very lad merely keep his eyes and ears and nose to the air...

Why, at the very discerning of being oh-so close to a powerful monster, would he be oh-so quick to have them change direction.

  Indeed.

'Twas the very lad, for he did and did indeed keep his eyes and body standing upwards...

  Arms folded...

All in the same room as Fren Chavalier...

All the while as he struggled with the very machinery...

All to make it to their destination in time.

  Yes...

He was tarrying ever faster than before.

And all the same, did the young lad stay there...

  Waiting...

  Watching...

Taking careful note of everything that passed them by.

  Even so, why...

Were the very set of them of the same mind all.

Why, from Madam Thornberry all the way to Madam Hathaway.

They all were of the same mind.

  And thereof, I do say...

Was Madam Hathaway yet of thought about the young lad...

  Yes...

  ...

We shall see that soon and later.

  Indeed.

Even so, following a very great set of hours...

Did the man by the name of Fren Chavalier finally halt himself, pulling the string, all to say...

Fren: Indeed. We shall stop here.

And thereof, was it before he could even begin to park, that the very young lad did immediately stop him to halt him.

Jake: No. We must go onwards.

  Fren: Hmmm?

Why, a most curious statement, I should say...

For, the very Fren Chavalier had decided that they seated next to a river, the very best defence would be, for...

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Must I say, a very good set of monsters cannot swim.

All the same, did the young lad refute this idea...

Saying that they and they all most certainly would...

Why, I should simply tell you, shouldn't I?

Jake: It is not safe here.

  Fren: I see...

Why, the very man was most puzzled by the lad, even so...

  Fren: Is there a monster?

And of that, did the young lad say...

  Jake: Yes.

All while maintaining the very same posture.

  Fren: Where?

  Jake: Beyond the river.

And of the very same, was that the very monster that the young lad had them turn to the right to avoid.

  Indeed.

Why, several metres from them all...

All in a clearing of a forest...

Could the very beast be seen.

  Yes.

  The very large monster...

Body upon the ground as though at rest.

And of it, its armour glistening under the sun of the day.

  Indeed.

The very greater dragon, that some may refer to as the Armahyde.

  And thereof, why...

Did Fren Chavalier soon consider turning the very carriage a bit just to see what lay before it...

But even so, as and before he could even bother to...

Why, did a very rattling roar sound from the river's side.

  Indeed.

Did Fren Chavalier waste no time in preparing to move...

All the same, as they all, simply knowing that something was horribly wrong...

  Went along with him...

  Yes...

The very Armahyde did indeed roar.

And of the very same, did they all leave the area...

All the while, their feet at their very best...

For the roar managed to unnerve them all... but the very young lad...

Remaining all the same... of the very same posture...

And of the very same serious disposition.

  Indeed.

'Twas not long before Fren Chavalier did say to the young lad...

Fren: Dear lad, are we safe now?

  Jake: Yes.

And of that, did he most immediately halt himself.

  Pulling the string once more...

At yet another opening in the area...

  Yes...

  Another forest clearing...

Yet another sort of luck do these ladies and gentlemen carry.

  And thereof, I say...

Did they coil as always, well preparing themselves for lunch.

  Indeed.

Even so, do I owe you a description of the very beast.

  Indeed.

  Armahyde.

'Tis one of the greater dragons well known to live in Vesturia.

  Name: Armahyde

Description: This shall be a mouthful, unfortunately. All the same, is it a massive beast, many times taller than a normal man. Hmmm... Perhaps only three times at its normal height. All the same, does it oddly bear a similar gait that would remind one of a feline in some sort... walking as such, to say nothing of the very thing that gave it its name. Indeed. Armour. Armour that finds itself as incredibly strong upon its arms, legs, head and the very tip of its tail, upon which lies a piece of armour as a flat stone, one would say. All the same are the pieces of armour on the other sides of its person as though giant stones following the shape of leaves. Indeed. Why, the very sharp edges find themselves towards the end of their feet, no, truly, do they go above it... covering the entirety of the foot to the very degree that its forefeet must lay most parallel to the ground upon which it stands, lest it walk on its armour instead. A similar case following for its hindfeet, which do follow the same pattern. Yes, they also, the very same. Why, it does indeed tend to walk as though constantly on the prowl... yes...

Behaviour: 'Tis a most aggressive fighter, one would say. All the same, much like a feline, is the very beast most lazy. Indeed. Why, 'tis the very sort to never go out of its way for a meal. Even so, does it remain quite curious.

Ability: 'Tis for the very armour and cat-like speed that this beast finds itself oh-so worried over. Why, the very creature's armour is stronger than most weapons can break, and its very ferocity is the thing that drives many a warrior away, as it uses the sharp edges of its armoured plates to stab at a foe following a leap... or even so, simply crush a man under its weight, to say nothing of the very tail, that it does keep in the air, as though some sort of second guard, to come crashing at a terrible force to anyone who would dare to strike at its unarmoured back. Even so, is the beast well known for a most interesting defensive position, whereby it holds its armoured pieces together, holding its own body together, placing the armour of its own tail at the very top, forming something of the very shape of... hmmm... Well, do simply imagine a...

Well, I do suppose that I should space this out.

Do imagine a pointed tip to one side, and a rounded bottom.

  Indeed.

That is the very shape it takes and also, what it is known for...

  For, indeed...

That very manoeuvre is the very same it uses for defence...

Allowing no attack to hit it directly...

All the same, using the very ability for offence, in and also in the fact that it is known to leap into the air...

  And thereof...

Land upon the ground, the very sharp edge where all shields meet, puncturing the foe of the monster more brutally than many a soul could possibly imagine.

  Indeed.

Why, do some even call it The Master's Arrowhead...

  Yes...

  Threat level: B

Fact: There are in fact many a species of the Armahyde, some bigger and lazier than others. All the same, is it best left alone. Why, that attack of its, truly... 'tis most difficult to survive.

All the same, did the very beast have nothing but roars for them all...

  Why, it did see them...

However, thereof, did it pay little mind...

  As it remained there...

  Resting upon the forest clearing...

As though simply basking in the beauty of the sun.

All the same, I would say...

Did the very set of men and women continue their very journey...

Why, the very reason I say...

  Obvious.

  And of that continuation, why...

Was it already time for them to enjoy their meal.

  Yes, yes...

The very same as always, I would say.

Why, even so, did the very young lad find himself cooked for as before, all the while as Madam Thornberry did find herself well hoping that the young lad would cook for them.

The poor woman, I must say...

Why, did the lad merely take his time to enjoy what was given him.

  Indeed.

  The very same as before...

  And of Madam Thornberry...

  The poor woman, I say...

Well, I do suppose that that shall remain that.

  Even so...

Fren: Three cheers for the young lad!

  Reginald: Indeed!

They both lifted up their drinks...

Madam Thornberry joining them ever so quickly after...

  And thereafter, why...

Florian Addison and the very slow to join Madam Hathaway.

  Indeed.

  Fren and Reginald: Here! Here!

Fren: For if not for him most certainly would we be in danger.

  Reginald: Indeed!

And they both alongside their friends...

All: Here! Here! To the dear lad!

And they all raised their drinks to the air...

Before quickly and immediately taking a sip.

All the while, as the very young lad remained unmoved by all their actions.

  Indeed.

  Even so, why...

Did the very lot of them continue in their boughs of jolly all while the young lad remained silent...

  Eating quietly...

Why, were his ears and nose all still very patient with the air about them.

  Yes...

  Searching oh-so patiently.

And of the very same, why...

Was there utterly nothing to be worried over.

Even so, did Madam Hathaway continue her gaze upon him...

  Yes...

  A most curious position...

And all the same, was there very little of the great day they had experienced.

Well, I do suppose that two frights were enough to entertain a set of travelers.

Why, do say, my dear reader...

Is it not fascinating that fear can fascinate the human heart?

'Tis one of the many things that a human heart must conquer...

All before it becomes that of a warrior.

  ...

Why, I do believe that eventually, you shall see exactly of what I speak.

And of the very same, I do say...

  That I shall go onwards.

  Ahem...

Of them all, men and women, and the very dear lad of course, even so, as they did clean their plates and rush over to the river to collect water...

Why, was it not very long before they found themselves yet right back where they started.

  Indeed.

Well, I do suppose that a great many conversation was to be held while they ate...

Such as Reginald Walterson speaking of the very golden treasure that he did keep at its homestead.

'Tis a piece so magnificently crafted, that the very piece is held within a box of gold.

  Yes, yes...

Simply a trader speaking of his passions...

All the same, did the very young lad merely do as always, watching and waiting...

All before they did return to the carriages...

The very word to their lips being...

  Fren: We must make haste.

Reginald: But... of course, I say. Why, the very thing... I do indeed agree.

Fren: Thereof, shall we have to work ever the faster!

  Reginald: Yes.

Why, the very groans in the hearts of them all as they did hear that statement about them.

  Indeed.

Ever the faster, even so, as they all had been working even harder than usual prior.

  Fren: Indeed.

And with a most sorrowful countenance did they all, the very five of them, re-enter their very carriages...

All with the very gentle hope...

That this would remain to them as a passing dream.

  And thereof, indeed.

Did they rushing through the forest manage.

All at the very speed twice what they were used to...

They all concerned, none taking breaks...

  Yes...

A most perilous position, I may say...

Even so, as the very young lad did take full note of all this...

All the while standing guard as before...

Watching in the air as well as watching Fren Chavalier sweat...

Why, did the young lad merely pause himself but to say...

  Jake: May I help you?

  Yes...

A most strange request, one may say...

Why, seeing as Fren Chavalier had not hired him for such, and even so, as the very man did not expect him to ever ask such...

Why, was his very first reply...

Fren: Do consider my pain not, my dear lad. 'Tis something I and the very rest of us are most used to.

  Indeed.

Say what one may, but everybody has pride and honour.

All the very same, even more than merely those two do they have.

Why, did the very man say this in earnest, well knowing how dangerous the young lad was.

And of the very same, why...

Did the young lad simply request once more, after...

Fren: Truly, I say... 'tis of no trouble to me...

All the while sweating and struggling just a bit to speak...

  Jake: I shall do it.

Fren: No, no, dear lad. Why, the very thing... 'twould be most troublesome to you, would you not think? Why, you do require that you pay mind to the very monsters and wild beasts that may attack us.

Jake: They shall not be a problem for there are very few of them in this area.

Yes, a very combination of his ability to sense them, and even so, some experiences in the area given his time as a Knight.

Fren: Yes, well, that may be so, however...

Jake: I can easily ride this as well as keep my ears to the air to listen for wild beasts. It will not be difficult.

And of the very same, did the very Fren Chavalier soon after have to concede...

  For, indeed...

The very young lad simply refused to concede himself...

  And thereof, why...

Did the very man hesitantly, and oh-so hesitantly...

Pull at the string once more...

  Hmmm.

Well, I suppose that that shall do it for this day.

  Indeed.

Do enjoy the very rest of your time, my dear reader...

And thereof, has this been a most proper day.

  Yes.

Why, was much celebrated, and much aligned...

  Yes...

  ...

Well, we shall see that happen, now won't we?

  Indeed.

And to you, my dear reader...

  Do take care...

  Fail to do nothing...

  And manage to do something.

  Indeed.

  Good day!
