Harmony’s Embrace?: The Consequences of Choice

  For years, Dryads lived in harmony with other races until humans ignited a brutal war for territory, leading to widespread destruction and forcing the once peaceful race to become one of the world's greatest forces, deepening their disdain for humans who had always been unkind to nature, terraforming her for their own needs instead of living in unison. After many years, a peace treaty was signed by all the kingdoms except for one. Its king had lost his wife to the Dryad Queen during the war, which she had done out of revenge. His son overhears his father's plan to burn the forest and exterminate the Dryads. Determined to stop him, the boy sneaks into the woods to save as many creatures and Dryads as possible, hoping to make reparations for his father's behavior. During a devastating fire, he pushes a young Dryad out of the way of a falling tree. This child happens to be the daughter of the Dryad Queen. His lower body becomes engulfed by flames, and as his consciousness fades and he accepts his death, he hears a young voice saying, "Mommy, he saved me, don't let him die." Moved by his selflessness, the Dryad Queen chooses to save him and raise him as her own. Over the years, he learns the true impact of his father’s choices, discovering that his father was the main reason the war began. Everything changes when he learns that the queen who spared his life and nursed him back to health was actually his mother's killer.
