Chapter 8: Arrival at the Vein

Edward approached Harpya and asked, "How does it feel to be going home, Harpya?"

  Harpya:

Harpya looked at where the compass was pointing and wondered what was so powerful that the church hid this relic.

The ship approached the coast of Vein, and some soldiers felt chills, others an unwavering confidence, ready to go into combat.

Edward looked at what was once the capital's port; he remembered the explosion of his friend Kana and commented to Harpya.

Harpya said that what happened in the city was a tragedy and that he never imagined he would return to that hell again. He told Edward to stop at the place where he and Isz first picked him up, since that was a safer place than the old port.

Harpya asks how long Edward has known Kana, and Edward says he's known the boy since Kana was a child; he was trying to steal Edward's father's ship, and that's where he met him.

Edward says Kana lived in an abandoned house with a friend of his, but his friend was killed in the city by men who bribed the people selling in the capital. Kana was rescued from the detonators by Zaroth.

HarpyaThe ship finally arrives at the agreed location. The soldiers set up camp and split into two groups: the scouts and the fighters.

Harpya gives instructions on the location of some relics nearby and says they can communicate if they have problems. Harpya says he will follow the compass and later they will go to the capital by land.

The compass strangely pointed to the northern wall within the forest. Harpya, along with Nyx and a small group, heads towards it.

On the way, Harpya observes the village he last saved. It was destroyed and seemingly without any survivors. Harpya clenched his fists, and suddenly specters appeared to confront them. Nyx charges and knocks down two, but they quickly return. Harpya then uses the golden sword and defeats them.

Harpya told the others to stay alert.

Suddenly, one of the villagers arrives and speaks with Harpya.

  Villager

Crying, the villager says that they were safe for a while, but the specters came there and only he survived.

Harpya asks how they were safe and why they didn't join him when he asked them to flee.

The villager says that the green-haired sorceress named Yuna protected them until she was killed by something that came from the sea and had a very strange shape, seeming not to be of this world. It came in search of something and didn't find it, and left.

Harpya asks if it resembled demons or something like that, but the villager says it resembled beings from the stars.

Harpya understands the villager and offers him refuge; he accepts and is led to the camp. His last question to the villager is if this Yuna was a resident, but the villager says she was a former alchemist knight.

Harpya looks confused and tells the villager to go with some soldiers.

  Nyx

  HarpyaNyx:

Harpya becomes thoughtful and follows the compass's path. Cerberus barks, indicating that there are more enemies. Suddenly, devilhands appear.

Cerberus attacks some, but more and more appear. The devilhands say that they won't get what they want, since not even the lord of the seas succeeded.

Nyx uses an exorcist's prayer and begins to inflict high damage on the enemies. Harpya charges and cuts the devilhands in half.

At the tip of Nyx's spear is an explosive rifle, and he blows the heads off the remaining ones. Some soldiers took up combat positions and asked if these enemies appeared out of nowhere. Harpya said that some did, but not like this, and it was also the first time he had heard them talking.

The compass pointed to the ancient ruin where Yuna used to live, but there was nothing there.

Cerberus barks at the ground, and Harpya understands what the dog wants to do, so he concentrates a vacuum of wind as if it were a projectile and fires it at the ground.

The noise is shrill, and a hole in the ground reveals a broken trapdoor. Harpya looks at the compass, and the closer he gets, the more it glows and reacts. He wonders what must be there for this relic to be considered immaculate.

A chest was there, adorned with gold and something that looked like a cluster of galaxies and stars on its lock. The compass reacts and destroys itself, breaking the lock.

The chest reveals a sword and a suit of armor that was disassembled. The sword was shaped like a curved cross, and the armor resembled dragon scales.

Harpya is impressed and tries to wield the sword, but it doesn't respond and suddenly becomes heavy.

The armor is also unresponsive and heavy, but seems to react with magic just like the sword.

  Nyx:

  Harpya

The soldiers help Harpya drag the chest to the camp and they leave it inside the ship.

That night the groups gather and talk about their achievements of the day.
