Really I don't know how to start this, how to explain this horrible feeling to you, what I've created for you. Allow me the freedom to edit this in the future but I thought this might provide some… understanding.
The will of the woods, the natural infection in the humans of the woods, what I've called the shrouded. Seems to be an infection through close contact with a person in the later stages of infection, its airborne shown in thin pollen released in pustules acting similar to Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, or "zombie ant fungus," it instructs its host to either wander and infect others if interacting with prion or the person has higher will or resistance, but if fully in control, will bring the host to the wall making a thicker protection to contain the prion spread. It is unclear whether the infection is human made at this time but it’s unlikely.
Symptoms of Shrouded = fungal infection,
newly infected walking around in a dream-like state searching for something will become aggressive if not woken will increase likelihood of becoming infected by prion.

“jumpy, uneven, its skin was scalloped and buckling onto itself, blistering into soft, weightless powder so fine the air breathed alongside it.”
As for the actual prion it seems to have spread to people through the consumption of birds with the misfolding proteins, this was likely caused by mismanagement in the meat industry in this sector it is true that people have had a hand in trying to edit mutations in the study of prions, when making unnatural packaged meats (meats produced in labs not nature) taking the first and second steps in this process, but the last step seems to be accidental, whether that is caused by an experiment gone wrong or it interacting with something is unclear.
