Chapter 57: A Wave of Massacre

In the mansion adjacent to Long Street, the ghouls were digging a large pit on the ground with sweat dripping like rain. They were indeed the most obedient and hardworking laborers, without any complaints, strictly executing every order from Tongdon.

Downton sat in the living room, grasping at time to meditate.

After advancing to Soul Stage Two, this was his first time inspecting his body condition. The soul shield unexpectedly turned into two orbs, which was also a sign of the second stage.

The Soul Stage mainly solidified his soul foundation and increased his soul force, but Tang Dong's physical quality still improved by one-fifth, which was twice that of an ordinary Magician.

What's most satisfying is the Soul Force released by the Soul Seed, which increases to five times that of a first-tier cultivator. This means that Tang Dong can absorb magical energy three times faster and can carry up to six magical servants at most, although there is a possibility of rebellion.

Atoning Gluttonous Corpse Demon Servants isn't a simple arithmetic problem, each additional one requires soul power that grows exponentially.

"Why do we need to open the wall six meters wide? Wouldn't it be safer to make it narrower, and let one through at a time?" Seres asked, squatting in front of the five-meter-deep pit as Tang Don emerged from his contemplation.

"The goal is to kill them all together, so we need to make sure that the spiders chasing us fall into the trap at the same time. If one or two of them escape, it will make the battle more complicated."

Tang Dun took a look at the deep pit and was not satisfied, so he jumped in and repaired it himself.

The pit wall must be straight up and down, so that the spiders falling down have nowhere to exert their climbing force and can't climb out. Then, turn the warrior's long spear upside down and bury it at the bottom of the pit and on the pit wall, which can definitely pierce them half to death.

"Even death knights rarely resort to such underhanded tactics, usually they're straightforward and openly clash with their enemies. This kind of... I've truly never seen before," Holma floated, gazing at the murderous aura emanating from the pit, unable to help but send a shadowy message.

"Why don't you just say I'm an uncouth, wild paladin and be done with it? Taldon rolled his eyes. 'It's just killing spiders, not like we're dueling them fairly.'"

"I think it's cool, not sinister, but a plot, just like a weak hunter hunting down a bear." Seres' serious expression defending Danton was met with a forehead slap from Morden.

"Alright, Seres, there's a layer of ice about the thickness of a finger on top of the pit." Tanton jumped out and brushed off the mud from his body.

In the necromancy, there is a part of frost magic, and as Seres is a death witch, her attacks are naturally accompanied by deathly chill, so making ice is not a problem at all.

Seris nodded and whispered an incantation, a white frosty aura spreading visibly across the ice layer, covering up the pit.

Danton stepped on it and jumped a few times with force, scaring Serese into screaming and rushing to pull him.

"What are you doing?" Seres' heart thumped wildly, almost jumping out of her chest.

"Just testing the strength of the ice block." Tang Don touched the forehead of the Death Witch, smiling, "Don't worry, even if I fall in, the long spear can't pierce this heavy armor."

"That's also something that can't be done so dangerously." Seres muttered to herself, her two index fingers twisting together once again.

"Not setting a precedent, let's get started. This time, I'll try with just five first." Tang Dong left two of his magic servants behind and took the others to the long street in front of the bank.

"You're really courting death, and you call five simple?" Seres complained, but unfortunately was ignored by Tang Dun.

"I see you're brave enough to burst the giant dragon's chrysanthemum." Holma teased, but she actually liked Tondon's spirit, only by constantly challenging the limits could all potential be squeezed out.

Those spiders crouch on their webs, motionless and quietly waiting for prey to come to them.

Tang Dun held the crossbow, bypassing the two in front, aiming at the back of the spider with floral patterns slightly behind, and pulled the trigger.

The spider with the central arrow was like a mad war horse, rushing over with eight legs, and the one beside it followed closely.

Tang Dun didn't leave but instead quickly drew his bowstring while keeping an eye on the prey. As expected, the two spiders that had been hit by the arrow were startled and charged forward together.

"Only four, not enough to see!"

Danton quickly calculated the time it would take for them to arrive, raised his hand and shot an arrow at a spider that had not been disturbed, which immediately ran wildly, also startling two others nearby.

  "Are you kidding me?"

Seven black-blooded spiders, comparable to war horses, came killing with momentum. Holma was delighted, but soon found that Tang Dun's face did not have a trace of panic, and he retreated to the backyard of Chang Street in an orderly manner.

The first spider to be hit is the most frantic, not only rushing the fastest, but also opening its mouthparts to spray a cluster of coconut-sized green venom.

A demon servant immediately blocked in front of him.

Dundon easily removed the double-layered tower shield from his back.

The spider with a strong stench pounced on Tang Don, its two front pedipalps raised and stabbed towards his head.

Two demonic servants as meat shields quickly blocked in front of Tang, their heavy armor and foreheads colliding with a deafening crash.

"Die!" Tang Don raised his crossbow, too close, almost pressed against the spider's weak compound eyes, and fired.

Pffft, a foot-long crossbow bolt shot in, green bodily fluids mixed with bright red blood spurted out, the spider let out a miserable cry.

Tang Dun threw away his crossbow and grasped the waist sword of the Man-Eating Demon, followed by a giant killing slash.

The spider's head was split open, and fresh blood splattered everywhere.

  "Get one solved!"

Dangton retreated quickly with his two magical servants.

A cluster of green poisonous projectiles shot out, hitting Tongdon's shield and the two magic servants, fortunately wearing heavy armor, without any threat.

"Block the left!" Seeing that the three behind had not yet climbed up, Tang Dun established a defensive line in front of the gap in the wall.

The spider on the left is entwined by two magical servants, while the one on the right makes a fierce pounce at Tongdon, striking with its foreclaws.

His legs slightly bent, Tong Don exerted force with his left hand and swung out the tower shield.

  Giant Wall!

Bang! The shield tower blocked the front and back, and heavily slapped it on the spider's face, directly knocking it out.

"Number Five, Number Six, go and block the gap!" Tang Don was now actually dissatisfied with Spider's slow speed, so he also dispatched two standby magic servants.

Four ghouls guarded the entrance, plus Thronton, successfully blocking three spiders.

After the three in the back gathered together, Tang Dun commanded the ghouls to form a V-shaped formation and retreat into the trap.

The spiders frantically stabbed the corpse with their pedipalps, and their mouthparts sprayed venom everywhere.

Can't help but say that even low-level spiders are too stupid, looking at these 'iron cans', they can't tell which one is Tang Dun, so they attack all of them.

Seris floated in mid-air, focusing on the few behind her. If they escaped the Corpse Taker's interception, she would drive them back with phosphorus rockets.

Dangton tread on the ice, retreated from the trap, and the Mo servants flashed open to both sides, just trapping the spiders in the middle of the trap range.

Four black-blooded spiders stepped onto the trap, and the ice layer could no longer bear their weight, beginning to crack.

"The pit is too small!" Serese shouted anxiously. The spider's body was not small, and it was impossible for them to gather on the trap together.

"Don't worry, it's enough!" Tong Dong comforted and struck down with all his might.

Crash! The ice block shattered, and the four black-blooded spiders that had lost their support fell in, pierced by long spears. Their mouthparts let out a painful wail.

The one on top, because it had its kind as a cushion, was spared from being pierced, and struggled to climb out. As a result, the next moment it was heavily chopped on the body by a giant falling from the sky, cutting off three legs.

  "Full force collision!"

Four demonic servants, under command, immediately took their positions, dividing into pairs as they circled around the Black Blood Spider's sides, then charged with full force, pushing them into the pit.

Six black blood spiders screamed and struggled desperately, but the ones below were pressed down and couldn't move at all. The one on top was only less than two meters away from the hole, but the wall of the pit was vertical and difficult to climb. Moreover, the spiders below were extremely frightened and kept twisting their bodies, trying to escape the predicament, which made it impossible for the ones above to stand firm, let alone attack.

"Seris, full power!" Tanton and the ghouls stood scattered at the edge of the pit, guarding against spiders climbing up, then handed over the attack on the crowd to the Death Witch.

Seris, as a mage, was originally a long-range turret profession, and killing these spiders was slightly more efficient than Tanton's.

"Not bad tactics!" Holma praised, without any suspense, killing this group of Black Blood Spiders that couldn't even resist, only a matter of time remained.

The spiders' desperate resistance was in vain, as they were all frantically twisting and struggling, unable to aim at their target. Most of the venom was sprayed on their own kind and the walls, and even if a few shots managed to hit the trap, it didn't pose a threat after all, since heavy armor wasn't just for show.

"The Corpse Eater is still too weak, and its heavy armor makes it move slowly." The first try was able to take out seven Black Blood Spiders at once, but Tang Don didn't feel proud. Looking at the mangled corpses in the trap, he furrowed his brow and thought about the tactical shortcomings.

"I think I'm killing too slowly." Seres floated down, her head bowed, two slender index fingers twisted together.

"Indeed, so I'll teach you a large-scale destructive magic spell, the Arcane Bomb. You must master it as soon as possible." Holma cast a projection of the incantation to supplement Serese's evil studies.

The power of Arcane Missiles is great, but the casting time is nearly three times that of Fireball. As everyone knows, when a mage casts a spell, they cannot be interrupted, or else it will cause magical energy to go awry and result in a violent explosion. Therefore, the longer the casting time, the greater the danger.

Homa pursued a quick and aggressive magical tactic, so she taught the novice Seres simple and swift death magic, even if it meant less power, to avoid long chanting times. Now it's different, with Danton and a group of undead minions as meat shields, plus the deep pit trap, the black blood spider can't pose a threat to her, so she can cast magic recklessly.
