Chapter 65: The Wine of Victory

The battle ended and the dungeon fell silent once again.

Tang Dun dragged the corpse of the devil spider mother, walking on the long street, like a hunter who was full of prey and set foot on his way home. Those fireflies were like stars, gathering into strips of aurora-like light bands, flashing in the sky above the city.

Muscle damage left Tangdon's arm trembling slightly, unable to even pick up the rapid-acting treatment medication.

Serena tensed for a moment before coming to her senses, hastily taking out one and pressing the opening against Tang Dun's lips.

The red liquid was sucked into the mouth, and a burst of sweet and sour fruit juice immediately exploded, then flowed into the stomach, spreading a comfortable feeling throughout the body like basking in the warm sun on a spring day.

Downton had never drunk medicinal potions before and didn't know that fruit flavors were the norm, thinking it was a special preference of Wolf and the spice merchant's wife, but the effect was indeed good.

The medicine takes effect quickly, stopping bleeding of the skin and starting to accelerate hematopoiesis by hematopoietic cells to make up for lost blood.

"If only there was one more healing spell, it would be perfect." Tangton muttered to himself, apparently he needed to have a talk with the cheap god after capturing Jackson.

All the way, looking at the magical bullet holes blasted by the spider mother on the street, Tang Dun still had some lingering fear, and then stepped onto the steps of Hohenzollern Bank.

As she entered the hall, Seres immediately signaled to Tongdon with her eyes, looking at the office counter on the left.

Downton glanced around but saw nothing, yet he knew Holma must be hiding behind.

The vault's gate weighs as much as five tons, with a one-meter-thick metal plate that exudes a sense of solidity and security. With the wealth and power of the Hohenzollern family, any treasures stored in the vault are absolutely safe.

"Over here!" Seres whispered, leading Tondon around the steel cargo containers, where a six-pointed star pattern of magic circle was engraved on the floor, shimmering with light.

"Is that it?" Tang Don frowned, compared to the transmission array in the tavern that needed to be inlaid with hundreds of magic stones, this simple one looked like a child's scribble.

"No choice, time is not enough, but don't worry, it's absolutely possible to transmit." Seris hurriedly guaranteed, she understood the urgency of the situation, and after getting on, called out to Tang Dun, "Let's go!"

"Not so fast!" Tang Dun stopped him. If he didn't let that cunning corpse demon see himself, with its cautious nature, it would absolutely not come in.

  ……

Jackson hid in a building across from the bank for a while, but still didn't see Danton come out, extremely curious about what they were doing, so he quietly ran over.

Hiding behind the doorway, Jackson peeked out with one eye to observe the hall, but there was no one, however, the vault door was open.

"Right, how could I have forgotten the vault? They must be checking the spoils of war." Jackson bumped his head against the wall, silently cursing himself for being so stupid.

Jackson paced back and forth, constantly raising his head to gaze into the gold vault, but nothing was visible, which made him feel itchy and unbearable.

The brain and internal organs are of course the best to eat when they're fresh, as they're the most nutritious. Apart from this, Jackson also wanted to see what was inside the treasury, although he had already become a ghoul, the intelligent Jackson still had an interest in treasure.

As he was hesitating, Jackson suddenly heard a cry of surprise, in which the two words "divine artifact" seemed to be mixed.

I wanted to listen, but there was no sound anymore.

Jackson was so restless, being teased by the 'divine instrument', that his forehead was sweating like Niagara Falls. Missing this opportunity, he feared he would never see the divine instrument again.

"What am I afraid of? I'm a Ghoul Lord who's about to be promoted to the middle ranks. Even if that human isn't injured, I can still kill him. And why not just eat him too while I'm at it? He won't be able to escape with the treasury door blocked anyway." Jackson made up his mind and pounced towards the treasury.

Because the air was stale, the vault was somewhat stuffy, but the ghoul breathed infrequently, having little effect on Jackson.

"Where is he?" The steel cargo container blocked his view, and Jackson couldn't even see a ghostly shadow.

Originally still a bit apprehensive, after seeing the spider mother's corpse on display, Jackson felt at ease. It didn't rush to eat, but instead went around the shelves to find Danton and that dead female ghost.

"What words can I say to show my strength?" Jackson thought, hesitated, and pondered. If he killed Danton, the underground city would return to its former desolate and lonely state. It's better to capture him and keep him as a slave instead.

"Alright, that's it, human slaves, take them out to haul the wind!" Jackson had just made up his mind, but after walking past the shelves, he was stunned.

  "Huh, where's everyone?"

Apart from the eerie magic circle on the floor, there was nothing else. A look of confusion appeared on Jackson's face, followed by a sudden realization, and he sprinted desperately towards the door for his life.

  Too late!

With a loud clang, the iron gate closed tightly, not even a wisp of air could seep in.

"Let me out!" Jackson grasped the door, emitting a shrill, ear-piercing sound. His hysterical howls merely echoed in the vault, to no avail.

The magic book floated out of the bank hall and projected a flame-like text.

  Mission accomplished!

"Hurray!" Hidden in the dark, Seris with a tense face saw the big words and immediately jumped up happily and floated over.

Tang Dun's mouth curled up into a smile, leaning against the wall without moving, the fourth stage was finally completed, and the tense nerves could relax.

"Next, just wait for that necromancer to compromise and sign the death contract." Mo Tian was excited, with an additional intelligent demon servant, Tang Dong's combat power would increase a lot.

"That guy was too cunning, if it wasn't for Tang Dun's quick thinking and shouting out the divine artifact, I'm afraid it wouldn't have gone in." Serese patted her chest, feeling a bit relieved, "Fortunately, Tang Dun endured it and didn't listen to my words to leave the treasury ahead of time, or else it would have been terrible."

"Four stages have been completed, Tanton, your execution is strong, but isn't this injury a bit too severe?"

Holmes' most optimistic estimate was that he would complete the third stage, but that still required Serres to cooperate with him. He didn't expect Danton to do it alone, and of course, the price he paid was this terrifying injury, at least for a week, don't even think about fighting with anyone.

"It's okay, just take care of your injuries." Tong Dun smiled very happily. "But if I miss this opportunity, I will regret it for the rest of my life. If Jackson wants me to be a laborer, he has to pay the price and wait to be a slave for the rest of his life."

"Will it definitely sign the contract? As a ghost, at least for two or three months, it won't starve to death." Seres began to worry.

"The focus of this plan isn't starvation, but imprisonment. If you don't comply, it's prepared to spend the rest of its life in the vault!" Holma didn't say that there are some things in this world that are more terrifying than death.

"Now all that's left is waiting." Tandon stood up, "Back to the den, tend to our wounds, and then have a big feast to celebrate our victory."

"Oh, oh, let's have a big meal, and I want to hear stories, Juliet's story." Serese shouted with a smile on her face, happy like a child.

"Ah, tell you about yesterday." Tong Dun stroked the hair of the Death Nymph.

"And there are spoils of war, this time it's a big harvest!" Holma didn't open the box ahead of time. Appreciating the spoils was something that had to be done with companions, or else it wouldn't be fun.

After a sumptuous feast, Juliet's sacrifice for Romeo at the tomb dispelled the centuries-old feud between the two families. Seress cried with tears in her eyes, and Homer was so moved that he wrote a 14-line poem on the spot to commemorate their love.

"Is it really that touching?" Tandon was perplexed after taking a sip of the ghost honey.

"Too cold-blooded!" Holma's poisonous tongue, "Is your heart made of stone?"

Serena nodded in agreement with Thaddeus, her bright blue eyes wide open as she gazed at him reproachfully.

"Why must you kill this young couple? You executioner!" Homer sighed.

"Right, butcher!" Serese thought for a moment and felt that this word was still not enough to describe Tondon's "ruthlessness", so she added more adjectives, "devilish butcher."

"Alright, I surrender, I'm the butcher." Danton said with a sneer, clearing the table and adjusting the wick of the oil lamp, "But shouldn't we admire the spoils of war before sentencing me?"

"Tell me again?" Serene floated to Danton's side, shaking his arm, her pale cheek full of entreaty.

Downton looked at Homa for help, but the magic book also turned against him.

Tang Don's throat was almost smoking after speaking three times, and only a female demon and a magic book were satisfied.

"It's truly a classic. If it were made into an opera, it would surely be a hit throughout the Western Continent." Holma sighed, "Such a wonderful story should be shared with everyone on the continent."

"Are you done yet?" Dantès rubbed his forehead, "If it's like this, I absolutely won't tell the Count of Monte Cristo."

"Alright, let's take a look at the spoils of war." Holma opened up the Warpspace, and Elemental Arms carried in six black boxes, placing them on the floor of the bedroom.

Then ten 10-gallon oak barrels of olive oil were also released.

"The box is quite good, it should be worth a lot of gold coins, right?" Tang Dun looked at the embroidery on top, even after three thousand years, it still hadn't completely faded.

"The more expensive ones are still inside." Holma opened it up, "In order to block Jackson's view, I didn't touch the steel cabinets in the bank."

"What's in the barrel, wine? Still drinkable after all this time?" Tang Don picked up an empty cup and turned on the faucet, and a light green liquor immediately flowed out, overflowing with a refreshing aroma.

Seris couldn't help but take a deep breath.

"This is Victory Mead, the style of the wine barrel pattern, brewed by a branch of forest elves. Holmako,"Because it's rare, it's usually used as a tribute, except for the cellars of noble aristocrats who have one or two barrels hidden away. Nobles without any status or position can't even see it, let alone take a sip."

Holmes was right; it is a duke who has spent a large sum of money on this.
