Chapter 76: Pulling Strings

The atmosphere in the tavern relaxed a bit with Hannah's arrival.

"Hello, I am the son of Mayor Morning Dew, Lee... Ster!" Lee Ster patted his chest, bowed and made what he thought was the perfect courtesy to Hanna.

Who knew Hannah would ignore Liszt and walk straight past him, standing in front of Downton.

"You left in such a hurry last time, I didn't even have a chance to thank you."

Hannah was very beautiful, her smile as intoxicating as a cup of sweet wine, almost making all the men in the tavern drunk. Their eyes involuntarily fell on the female lawyer's chest.

The Taoist robe's collar was slightly wide and loose, revealing some fair and tender skin, which elicited a swallowing sound.

Liszt's face suddenly twisted, no one had ever dared to ignore him like this before. At that moment, he hated not being able to immediately pin Hannah down and ravage her fiercely.

  "Not necessary," Downton declined.

"You seem to have gotten yourself into some kind of trouble? Pipo, what's going on?" Hanna pretended not to understand Danton's dismissive tone and asked Vieli.

"I've told you before, don't call me by my nickname in public." Vieri muttered, putting his arm around Tandon's shoulder. "This is the son of the town mayor, forcing our friend to do hard labor."

"Mind your words, it's not coercion, but rightful duty." Liszt glanced at Fanny who was following behind Hannah with sleepy eyes and decided to back down for now and wait until he figured out their origins before making a move.

As the son of a town mayor, Liszt was no fool and instinctively sensed that these people were not to be trifled with through their attire, speech and demeanor. The air of disdain they had towards him was not put on; it was clear that they had seen many people of his status before.

"You're always too polite, I've said it before, if you have any requests, just make them." Hanna gave Tangdon a familiar glance and turned to List, "I'll pay the gold coins for him, exempting him from labor service."

"No way." Li Si Te directly refused.

"Don't bother, I'll do a month's labor." Tandon's wealth was enough to buy the entire town of Morning Mist, but he knew Lister was out to get him, so bribery wouldn't work.

To say nothing of Tandon, who didn't want to humble himself and beg for mercy, he would have given him gold coins, otherwise he would have been tormented all his life.

"Downton, don't be a fool, he's clearly after you." Fanny, in her nightgown, wrapped her arms around Downton's arm and pressed her chest against him, something she wouldn't have done if not for Hannah's orders.

"I'll be reporting to Daggerford Mines tomorrow." Thrain pulled Fanny away.

The little loli carefully sized up Tang Dun again, then looked at Fen Ni and muttered to herself, "Could it be that he's really a lolicon?"

Fanny is not a beauty of Hannah's caliber, but compared to the dancing girls, she is absolutely on a higher level. However, Tang Dun actually pushed her away, causing the mercenaries to secretly scold him for being unromantic.

"Great, I like your spirit. Hope that in a month, you can still talk to me with the same momentum as now." Liszt turned around and left, walked a few steps, then stopped again, "Oh right, forgot to tell you, if you can't hold on, feel free to come find me anytime, don't die from being too proud."

The words were full of threats, even a fool could hear it, the mercenaries knew that Tang Don wouldn't back down, and nine out of ten would die in the mine.

"Master, are you just going to let him go like that?" As soon as List left the tavern, the servant immediately chimed in, "What if those people from the mine also covet Tangton's weapons, what should we do?"

"That little guy suffered a loss like that, do you think he still dares to take out his weapon and show off?" Lister sneered, "Besides, they're just a few mine bosses and supervisors, what qualifications do they have to compete with me?"

"What a brilliant master!" The servant flattered him greatly.

"Go, find out the identities of those three as soon as possible. If they're nobodies, I'll let them know what it means to cross me." Lister had no shortage of experience with murder and robbery, and in the chaotic border region, he could easily stage a few missing persons cases to cover his tracks.

Watching the servant disappear into the dark streets to gather information, Liszt hurried back to the manor. Before long, several big shots would arrive and he had to make sufficient preparations. As long as they were pleased with him, all status and wealth would be within his grasp.

The conflict ended and the mercenaries all sat back down, but the noisy commotion didn't weaken at all. Almost everyone was discussing Tang Ya and his perfect-level equipment.

"Gentlemen, I have something else to attend to, I'll take my leave first." Before Tong Dun could even lift his foot, Vieille had already quickly rushed forward and blocked his way.

"Friends, we mean no harm." Vieri emphasized, giving Hannah a sideways glance.

"If it were a friend, he wouldn't force someone to do something difficult." Darcy retorted, sneering.

"Looks like there's been some misunderstanding between us?" Hanna forced a smile, trying to explain that she certainly had ways of forcing Downton to reveal the secrets of Raven Ridge, but that would also raise more questions.

"Hannah, are you insulting my intelligence? Or are you an idiot?" Danton hesitated about how to get out of this situation, fighting was definitely not an option, let alone Hannah and Vieli, just Fen Ni, he himself probably couldn't handle.

"You're being very rude, do you know who Hannah is?" Fanny scolded, in her opinion, Hannah had both looks and family background, Tang Dun should be kneeling down to lick her boots.

"Why should I know?" Downton asked with an expressionless face, but a surge of anger in his heart.

This is the humble commoner with no status, originally thinking that others talking to him was a kind of charity and promotion, never once did Tang Don yearn for power, yearning to change his circumstances.

"You're so bad, big brother! Let me go, I'll get the weapons and we'll fight our way out!" Hu Tao was like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, baring her small white teeth as she flailed about.

"It was I who overstepped." Hannah let out a breath, seeing that it was impossible to get close, and could only be official, "Tang Dun, everyone is smart, my intention, you must have known too."

Tang Don cursed in a low voice, why did he have to save someone with good intentions and encounter such a thing, and he didn't even peek at the lucky goddess's underwear, why bother himself like this?

"If you share the secret of Wuya Ridge, you will receive a generous reward. For someone like Li Si, even just one sentence is enough for me to make him, and even his entire family disappear." Hanna named her price, "Of course, the wealth there still belongs half to you."

"Sister Hanna!" Fanni was anxious, that's the imperial tomb group, why should it be given to Tondon for half? In her opinion, catching this kid back, beating and interrogating him, everything would be known.

"Stop it." Hannah restrained Fanny, looking at Downton sincerely. "Don't be in a hurry to refuse, think carefully about it. You're just a commoner, are you qualified to guard your wealth? It's better to make the most of its 'value'."

Downton didn't deny Ravenswood's secret and people like Hannah talk more, the more they reveal.

"Well then, I look forward to our next meeting having a more convivial atmosphere." Hanna turned and left, Fanny shot Downton a withering glance before hurrying after her.

"Friend, think carefully, if you refuse, with Hanna's character, she will not force it, but Fenni will definitely spread your secret to everyone, and at that time those mercenaries will definitely rush up like sharks smelling blood." Vieri patted Danton's shoulder, his words full of clear threat.

"What secret?" Little Lori blinked her eyes, very curious.

"Let's go!" Tandon picked up Walnut's backpack and led her out of the Golden Elephant Tavern.

"Let him go just like that?" On the third floor, Vieri found Hanna standing at the end of the corridor, looking out the window at Tongtong on Long Street. "Will someone else get there first?"

"A young man who started working as a mailman at the age of twelve, sleeping only a few hours a day to earn a living for his sister, must have a strong mind. If he doesn't suffer some major setbacks that destroy his self-esteem and confidence, he will absolutely not compromise."

For more than a month, Hannah had heard everything about Tong Dun. He was absolutely a hardworking man. If it weren't for the involvement of the grave robbers, she would have already approached Tong Dun. This kind of person could be cultivated to become a helper for the family.

Vieri didn't say a word, he had already made up his mind, and arranged for someone to go to the Dagger Mine to stir up some big trouble for Tandon.

"I'm tired, you all go to sleep!" Hanna walked into the bedroom, deep in thought. Arranging for someone to take care of Irene was something that had to be done, and this might be a breakthrough. So should she find someone to pretend to be Liszt to deal with Downton?

Hanna knew she should do it for her family, but the softness in her heart made her want to refuse.

Standing by the window, Hannah thought of Danton's black sincere eyes and his help without asking for anything in return. If it weren't for him, she would have been eaten by zombies as lunch already.

"Oh father, what am I supposed to do?" Hannah sighed deeply, the moonlight on the floor poured out a sea of worries.

The earth spirit was leaning against a hitching post, fast asleep and snoring loudly, with saliva flowing all over the ground.

The little loli took off her belt and re-tied it to her wrist, but still didn't wake up the "pet", and quickly went to chase after Downton.

Ah, the earth spirit let out a miserable cry, being dragged on the ground by Xiao Loli, flailing its arms and legs in a flurry, but couldn't get up.

"Master, I... I'm going to die!"

"Here's the gold, now leave. I have a lot of things to do lately." Tang Don squatted down, patted Little Lori's head and reminded her, "From now on, never camp outside the town at night again."

Feeling the warmth of Tandon's palm, Hu Tao's nose turned sour and her eyes were blurred by tears. How long had it been since she last tasted the flavor of being cared for? It had been so long that she couldn't even remember.

The little loli cried, which made Tang Don at a loss. He hurriedly wiped away her tears, but thinking that his armor was too hard, he quickly stopped.

"Hutao won't leave, Hutao will help you!" The little loli wiped her nose and tears with her arm, looking at Tang Don, her tender voice filled with utmost seriousness.

"Little loli, I've found you!" A loud and rude voice suddenly rang out before Tang Dun could respond.
