Chapter 31: Revision

The Core asked since it had been too busy thinking about said alliance before to listen.

Because of its ability to see from all angles, it clearly saw the twitch of the human’s facial muscle as it projected its thoughts out loud.

It knew that humans used their bodies to indicate their emotions using either their whole anatomy or just their faces, but that didn't mean it could tell the emotion the human was feeling from such a tiny hint.

In fact, if a human didn't do something obvious like cry, yell, or smile, it could only hopelessly guess what they were trying to convey.

Thankfully, most of the time it didn't need to do that since it had only recently come into contact with humans and also wanted them dead.

This wasn't one of those times, but it was certain that if something was really bothering those humans, they would motion much more than a flicker of muscles in the brow area.

"As I said ," The Crazy One weirdly stressed the last word, as if The Core didn't know that. "the alliance will include our full support of the esteemed one's hobby, which this one can get into detail about if the esteemed one will let me, in exchange for your help in defending the Raging Winter sect, as well as a guarantee that the esteemed one will not endanger the sect in any way, whether that be through direct or indirect means, which includes not stopping the rampage of beasts that are or have been connected to you, whether by contract, emotional bonds, or material exchanges. More elaboration will be placed in the contract as the esteemed one seems to eschew listening." The Crazy One finished and then did a full-body flinch before hurriedly resuming its previous posture and staying frozen in its position, an anomaly considering that previously there had been small movements associated with being alive.

The Core could also see the way the other humans widened their eyes and glanced in the direction of The Crazy One; it didn't know what exactly caused such a reaction.

Then, in front of one of the humans, appeared a scroll; it looked to be quite well made, and The Core wondered if that was the contract the Crazy One spoke about.

"This scroll contains all the information regarding the alliance. It has already been signed by the highest-ranking elders in the Raging Winter sect; however, if there is anything you'd find dissatisfactory, please inform us. We can always rewrite it," the human, who must have probably taken the scroll out of a spatial storage of some kind using qi instead of mana, spoke.

The Core used mana to unfurl it, but instead of reading it, it decided to ask a question to The Crazy One.

It didn't remember having one, unless its experiments counted? But it did those out of necessity rather than pleasure, which is usually what having a hobby means. But maybe they had a different definition?

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

"...This underground site that you want us to explore, isn’t building it a hobby of yours?"

, The Core explained. It was happy that the negotiations were going well, especially after it had thought about how disastrously they could end just a moment ago, so it didn't get frustrated at their lack of knowledge.

"I see, then we will help with the meaning of your existence, under the knowledge that it will not change after the forging of the alliance."

  The Core wondered.

The Crazy One's face twitched again; maybe it was an aftereffect of an electric mage's spell instead of an expression of emotions? Although the other humans did so as well.

"Apologies, this one misspoke," The Crazy One replied, ignoring the question.

Since the human didn't want to respond, The Core decided to read the scroll containing the details of this alliance.

The issue it noted immediately was that they required it to them in times of need. How could it even do that? As The Dungeon Core, leaving its own halls came with a huge danger to its soul, and if one of its monsters left, then it wouldn't be able to control it, and they wouldn't listen to an , even if said monster was currently occupying that role.

It seemed that they assumed it could leave the dungeon in some way, which, albeit true, wasn't something it was fond of doing.

Although it was quite pleased by the fact that it only needed to not endanger the organization behind its invaders and that interlopers who entered were free to be killed.

They also mentioned being free to pick anything that they found, whether plant or beast, which was something they could already do.

There was also a bit about not deliberately killing any disciple they sent into its halls, which The Core didn't intend to do again since it had already overcome the previously thought insurmountable barrier of more floors.

It continued reading and got to the benefits the sect would give it, most of which were absolutely useless to it.

Why would it need so much jewelry or coins? It could craft those without issue; the same applied to any artifact they might offer. It just found them useless.

The same applied to the help it could get from them; any help that wasn't directly committing suicide in its halls wasn't needed, and the chance of them agreeing to that was small.

Thankfully, they also mentioned giving it monsters, although it didn't recognize any of the names; hopefully that meant those used qi instead of mana.

, The Core told the humans after it finished reading.

The humans at the back exchanged glances, a feat considering their positions.

"Of course, but if you reject assisting the Raging Winter Sect with enemies, then would it be presumptuous of us to ask you to improve the treasures you leave in the chests?" the one who brought out the scroll said.

  , it replied.

"Then might we retrieve the scroll and rewrite it? If you're impatient, we could do so even in your... home," another human spoke.

. It didn't want any invaders who weren't invading, not to mention it wouldn't be able to focus on its 14th floor if they were inside.

With that, all of them stood and walked out of its dungeon, their backs facing the exit while doing so.

The Core wondered briefly why they would do that before going back to continue building its 14th floor, although how much it could accomplish before the humans were back was debatable.
