Chapter 25: Cleaning Up

The Core quickly made sure there were no invaders in the dungeon.

There weren't so it quickly absorbed the souls of the dead invaders along with all the corpses littering inside its halls.

The memories weren't all that impressive, no member of the group was particularly important and their life story reflected that. Although it did get a bit more knowledge about the Raging Winter Sect, mainly about the architecture and layout inside the outer ring though.

There were 2 people here who came from a commoner background and got to the sect through hard work so they deemed the knowledge regarding the sect as relevant enough for The Core to acquire them post mortem.

The rest were from small cultivator clans, most from the same one called Huang, while only one other, the shrill voice guy was from the Wu clan.

The Raging Winter Sect was divided into three sections:Outer, Inner and Core.

The Core couldn't understand why they would do that and no memory explained it since they deemed it so basic that it didn't become an important memory.

Curious, since the fact that those existed was deemed important, surely if that was the case then the why would be as well?

Is it similar to the Adventures Guild in that the divisions are based on strength or something else? Knowledge, wealth? Or is it just based on architectural style with no apparent bias?

There was truly no information regarding the separation.

The Core decided to ignore it for now and focus on looking through more information regarding qi.

Besides it was sure more people who had the answer would come, die inside the dungeon and then it would have an explanation!

After a bit of looking through the memories it learned something new.

Qi was alike with mana in the sense that they both resided in living beings made from organic and inorganic material. However, contrary to mana it didn't cycle on its own inside cells, instead it needed a force of will to do so.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

The Core didn't think of it before because willpower was only required for spell casting, a discipline that had nothing to do with creating or sustaining life if you exclude the very few specialised spells that it itself was an expert in.

Truly the fact that it had two newbies die here was a blessing. It wouldn't have come up with this answer by itself!

There were also some sword techniques that were pretty useless to the Core but it was forced to watch them as one human was pretty big on them and his memories practically consisted of only that.

At least there was some Qi involved with some of them but it couldn't see a practical use for any of that as it didn't have any humanoid monsters.

Maybe when it finally managed to make humans work? Or should it just sculpt a more human-like golem? But would that even work since golems needed to be big for the runes inside them to fit? It could make tiny runes but those could potentially not have enough mana inside them to power the golem.

The Core then realised it didn't yet watch all the memories so it got back to that, wanting to see if there more qi techniques that its monsters, but especially the Foliage Shaper who actually had Qi inside her, could use.

Unfortunately the answer was no, it even watched all of their assimilated memories but there simply were no sword unrelated techniques.

The Core knew they were all swordsmen since they used swords but shouldn't they at least know some sword unrelated spells for coverage?

It knew that that would make them harder opponents to kill but then the rewards would be better so it would be worth it.

Although the best case was if one of them wanted to learn one but failed to do so, as that would mean The Core could see the spell but there would be no increase in danger.

Regardless, The Core wasn't actually upset by this news, it had useful information that could definitely speed up its human restoration plan and it had acquired new floor space!

With excitement it looked through its halls once again, making sure no more invaders came in while it was occupied and when it saw that there was no increase in humans it repopulated the floors with each one's designated dungeon monsters.

It also replaced the taken treasures from the chests and the plant life that was taken from the second and third floor.

Then The Core finally looked at its 10th floor and began excavating the entrance to the 11th floor.

It already thought through the location while fantasising about the time it will finally acquire the privilege to make more floors as well as to what the theme should be.

The eleventh floor shall be a beach!

It could already think of so many unused monsters it could place there!

It already knew what monsters were most suitable for this environment as it used it before when it had no visitors and could freely remake its own floors again and again.

It couldn't wait for interlopers to make it this far and die by its designs!

Of course only when it had much more floors to act as a buffer, like how it happened with The Only One.

It was sure such luck couldn't come again but it hoped it would.
