  Chapter 2: Learning Some More.

  (Celia’s POV)

James: “I am here, yet you wish for the hand of other women…” She pouted.

Celia: “Hands of other women? James, know your place in my heart isn’t light in the least, but my hand is already spoken for.” I reply with a coaxing tone.

James: “Yes, you have wives… So you say, but I’ve never seen them. You’ve talked about them so much, but in over 100,000 years, not a single one of them has ever shown up.” She replied with another pout.

Surely, my age wasn’t bumped up by this part of the game. Though this body was being controlled like an NPC prior to me taking it over, she lived her life much like I do normally.

Ingrained in her memories… were my wives, and those in my family, as well as my friends. Knowledge of the game was there, as well. Cruelly, this body lived countless years, all with the knowledge that it would one day be replaced by the true Celia…

Celia: “This whole thing is a game, you know this. Due to the game, my wives cannot be by my side at the moment.” I replied with a shrug.

This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

James: “You said that this is a game… but never explained what that entailed. Am I even a real person?” She asked with a curious tone.

Celia: “Hm… I am sure that you are, but let me take a quick look.” I said before looking deeply at her chest.

No! I wasn’t checking out her impressively sized breasts! I was looking to see if she had a soul. Odd… the adventurers didn’t have souls, they were all clearly NPCs. But… James does have a soul.

I also detect some divinity in her, but if she was a player, then she’d also have memories of the game, right? Since James doesn’t act like she does know about it, James was probably just a Higher Being in her last life.

Celia: “Those adventurers had no souls, you see. Which is why I find killing them to be a pointless endeavor. Regardless of how many that I kill, the game would always make more to bother me with.” I say, turning my eyes away from the maid.

James: “And… what of me?” She asked, nervously.

Celia: “If you didn’t have a soul, why would I keep you by my side? You aren’t a player, though.” I replied with a laugh.

James: “Oh… that’s good.” She said with a happy smile.

Celia: “Here, you should have an ability like this. Knowing who is real, and who is an NPC, is very important.” I say before touching her head.

  James: “…”

Celia: “What’s wrong? Did it not work properly?” I ask with a concerned tone.

James: “It worked! It’s just… your soul is so powerful.” She clarified.

Celia: “Powerful, yet I am trapped in this silly life or death game.” I say with a groan.

  James: “…”

Celia: “Anyway, this part of the game should be starting soon. Do be prepared, as, instead of camping out in our castle, I will be on the move.” I advised with a serious tone.

James: “Yes, My Queen! I will go to the ends of earth for you!” She swore with a bow.

  Celia: “(^^) b”
