Chapter 723
Enoril became a tour guide for Anton and brought him to different approved locations to be seen by an outsider inside the forest elves’ kingdom. Even in the middle of winter, when everything was buried in snow, Anton could not deny that forest elves knew beauty. Their houses on the ground and on top of the trees had a beauty that would simply take the breath of anyone lucky enough to see them.
Anton was not surprised that some of the most important places, like the palace or some of the official buildings, were clear of snow. Magic could do a lot of things, even making sure that some of the places remained spotless. There were even flowers in full bloom and trees of different species that were supposed to lie fallow during winter that were alive as if it were in the middle of spring. There were beautiful and melodious birds flitting around. The fact that it was the middle of winter made the scenes much more magical.
Anton’s Rose Manor gardens, fruit orchards, and the grain field were also the same due to the mana water that was soaked on their grounds. It made those fields bloom all year round, but it was beyond Anton’s control. He wondered if there were spellbooks that he could purchase related to controlling a specific location to make sure that it would remain in a chosen season all the time. Since he was with Enoril, he asked that very question of the elf.
“There are spellbooks, but those can only be wielded by archmages and above, and from what I know, they cost tremendous amounts of coins,” Enoril said.
“Well, since I reached the Supreme Rank, I can wield them. Can I purchase those spellbooks here?” Anton asked.
Enoril looked at him in surprise.
“You’re a Supreme Rank mage?! But we used a detect age spell on you, and it stated that you’re only around eighteen or nineteen years of age!”
“That’s right. I’m nineteen just this month. I’m proud to say that I reached the rank at this age,” Anton boasted.
Enoril jaw dropped, but after a few seconds, the elf made an effort to gather himself.
“I don’t know if we can sell you those spellbooks, but I recommend that after showing us a few movies, you can ask some of the more experienced elf wizards,” Enoril advised.
Anton understood what Enoril was saying. Their spells were not normally available to be purchased by just anyone. But if he managed to have a close relationship with the forest elves through the films, he might have a chance to buy those spellbooks.
While they were touring the forest elves' kingdom, Anton had his globe of browser sharing always active, recording everything. Thankfully, no one noticed.
At first, Anton wanted to go inside the shops, but Enoril advised against it.
“Wait until after a few days. By then, our people would have seen more of your movies. I’m sure that would allow you to form a closer relationship with us, and once that’s established, the shops would be open for you, probably without limitation.”
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Even without shopping, Anton saw a lot of things that he could appreciate within the forest elf kingdom. Enoril brought to watch a theater performance, and Anton agreed that the elves were superb actors. The elf also brought him to a tavern-like place where musicians performed, and he could admit that the elves truly elevated their arts to a very high level.
“I can perform music too,” Anton told Enoril.
The elf smiled mischievously and left Anton for a few minutes, seated on one of the tables. When the elf returned, Enoril told Anton to prepare.
“Prepare for what?” Anton asked, but Enoril just smiled.
Once the bard singing a beautiful love song finished his performance, an elf went to the front and announced that the human quest would be performing next. Anton looked at Enoril wryly but went to the stage. He had long gotten used to performing in front of an audience, so he was not afraid at all. He also had a huge advantage. Earth had spent countless years creating songs, and all of those were available to Anton.
He had a resonant, tenor voice, so Anton capitalized on it. He planned to perform one of the most famous Journey songs, “Faithfully,” but he saw that the elves were using some sort of magic item that amplifies a voice like a microphone. Instead of using his guitar, he planned to use his Globe of Browser Sharing spell to have a band accompaniment. He remembered performing it back in the merchant city of Ruandelle in Rendindura. He remembered faithfully practicing performing, as Anton thought there was a chance he might have to rely on it for food.
Anton knew that Enoril probably wanted to embarrass him a little. When Anton started playing the band accompaniment using his Globe of Browser Sharing, the elves in that tavern all looked at him. He then started belting the slow rock song from the band Journey, and the whole place became silent and started listening to him sing a song from Earth. He knew how the elf would react. The song was something new, and it was vastly different from the songs they were used to.
After he was done, the forest elves all stood up and started clapping vigorously. Anton pretended to be shy and softly smiled at everyone. The elves then clamored for another song. Anton started the accompaniment for the Starship song “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us”. It was one of his favorite songs simply because it was the theme song to one of his favorite romantic comedy films, which was Mannequin. It was a high-note song for him simply because one of the singers was a woman rock and roll singer, and even the male singer’s part was high, but he had tried it before, and he could sing it.
Another advantage that Anton had was copying how the performers performed on stage. He did it to increase his charisma while singing on stage, and it seemed to work. The elves looked mesmerized simply because he was moving around like a rockstar on the stage.
In Anton’s opinion, Earth’s 1980’s rock and roll songs were the best ones in showing off one's voice. After he was done, the applause was thunderous. The elves still clamored for more, but Anton begged off, saying that the two songs took a lot from him.
“You have a beautiful voice, and your songs were powerful but full of sentiment! The structure is also highly different. Your performance was also something to behold. Are you trained as a bard?” Enoril asked.
“Those songs came from the dimension where the movies came from. The humans there also elevated their music to a high level since they had hundreds of years to do so. I copied how the singers there perform on stage,” Anton replied.
“I want to see their performance!” Enoril said.
“We can also watch a concert if you want,” Anton told the elf.
“Oh, can we?!” Enoril asked, and Anton nodded. This made the elf excited.
After that, Anton and Enoril continued touring the kingdom. When noon arrived, they stopped somewhere to eat and continued. A couple of hours after lunch, they returned to the house assigned to Anton so he could rest before the movie watching that night. Enoril told Anton that he would fetch him an hour before the movie even started.
