Chapter 52: Third Contact (Part 1)

Chapter 52: Third tact (Part 1)

"Is this where those alieures are?"

Looking at the city before him, Wang Dong frowhe expressions of the people around him weren't aer.

It was uandable, though. After all, the Zerg... everything about them, from their units to their structures, exuded an aura... well, calling it vilinous might be an exaggeration, but referring to them as demon lords wasn't far off. Moreover, the Zerg loved to carpet the ground with their creep, spreading it wherever they went. This first impressioainly didn't align with anything angelic or savior-like in the eyes of humans.

  "Are we going in?"

Looking at the thick, writhing carpet of creep beh them, Wang Dong frowned and turo a middle-aged woman with gsses standing behind him. Wang Dong was here as part of the joint and's iigation team, tasked with proteg the representatives sent to tact these strange creatures. The main objective was to determine whether these beings were friends or foes, why they had e to Earth, and why they were fighting the mimic aliens.

"These strange giant bugs, I think they're here to take over the Earth!"

A blond man scoffed, looking at the writhing creep before them. His pint was met with a stern gre from the woman with gsses.

"Shut up, you idiot! We're here to represent all of humanity aablish tact with them, not decre ut yun away! Humanity's situation is already dire; we don't need any more plications."

  "Alright, alright."

The blond man spread his hands and shrugged in respoo the woman's reprimand.

"So what do we do now? Keep moving forward?"

"No, it's best not to do that."

The woman with gsses thought for a moment before replying.

"I don't know what this is, but it looks like a way of markiory. These creatures might have a stroorial instinct. If we recklessly step in, we might provoke their hostility."

"Fine, but... damn it, this is our city!"

Seeing the blond man's disgruntled expression, Wang Dong and the woman with gsses exged a helpless look. Just like the debates online, even within the joint and, there was siderable disagreement on how to deal with these suddenly appearing alieures.

Especially after watg the footage provided by Wang Dong, maerrified and uneasy about this mysterious race.

Wang Dong uood that even those in the joint and who supported tag the aliens were primarily motivated by fear of their formidable bat power rather than a genuine desire for peaceful coexistence.

It wasn't surprising, given the Zerg's terrifying appearano sane human would sider the Zerg beautiful.

"So, what do we do now?"

A portly man, a renowned psychologist and a member of the "iation team," asked curiously. He was responsible for assessing the psychological dynamics of both sides and hoped to gain insight into the alien civilization's development.

"We 't just stay here and do nothing."

"For now, let's not make any rash moves. We're the first humao eheir territory. If they want to unicate with us, then..."

"Ah, excuse me, ma'am, I o correct you."

Before the woman with gsses could finish, the blond man interrupted again. His interruption clearly annoyed her, as she frowned and gred at him.

  "What now?"

"I think... we aren't the first humao eheir territory."

With a pyful expression, the blond man poio the sky in the distance. Seeing his gesture, the eeam turo look in the dire he ointing. Soon, they saw a helicopter flying through the sky, heading straight into the city.

Wang Dong quickly activated his mech's le ser to loto the helicopter.

"The damned media! Are they insane?!"

Upon hearing Wang Dong's respohe woman with gsses began to scream.

"These bastards, they're risking humanity's survival for the sake of a news story!"

If Alex heard this, he would probably "fort" her, expining that journalists causing global chaos is a on trope in sci-fi.

They often dig up apocalyptiews that throws the world into panic, leading to societal colpse. Or they might release b animals in the name of freedom and justice, spreading deadly viruses.

In sci-fi, journalists, like stists, often hold the dubious honor of being potential world destroyers—approach with caution.

Clearly, the journalists in "Edge of Tomorrow" ied this self-destructive spirit. The helicopter from the TV station, far from being cautious upoering the city, deliberately fleang Dong could even see a reckless cameraman filming the Zerg up close.

  "These idiots!!"

Wang Dong wanted nothing more than to send an RPG their way and blow them to bits. They hadn't even figured out the aliens' iio, and these fools were running in to get themselves killed!

What if the aliens perceived this as hostile? Didn't these damned idiots fear dragging all of humanity down with them?!

  "————!!"

As if firming their worst fears, a loud roar echoed. The group watched as a massive Corruptor slowly asded into the sky, heading toward the helicopter.

Following it was a Leviathan. Seeing the creature approach, the helican to sway nervously, trying to escape.

But the Corruptor was much faster, reag the helicopter, extending its tentacles to grab it. The helicopter's rotors struck the Corruptor, tearing off ks of its flesh.

  "It's just a mae... just a mae..."

The delegation turned pale at the sight, with the woman in gsses g her hands tightly, almost praying. Wang Dong uood her panic.

They didn't know why the alien was grabbing the helicopter—maybe out of curiosity, maybe as an attack. But the helicopter's response was far from what they hoped, and more importantly, the alien was injured!

Putting himself in the alien's shoes, Wang Dong couldn't imagine arying to grab something strange, getting hurt in the process, and still thinking it was harmless. For many species, this was almost a decration of war.

Was humanity about to face the terrifying Zerg due tue media helicopter?

Wang Dohat if history recorded this, he would be too ashamed to face future geions.
