I definitely need to find a job this summer, hopefully Roman will need help around the store again. Most places don’t hire newly fourteen year olds unless they have a work pass for which I was in the application process of.
I heard a shout coming from about a few feet ahead. A group of kids were playing too close to the edge of the sidewalk, the larger pudgy kid was pushing the smaller one who was holding a ball. I couldn’t quite make out what they were saying but I could see where this was going

“Hey you guys shouldn’t-”
The larger one pushed the smaller one off the sidewalk and the ball began to move further into the road. The kid ran after the ball, unaware of the car speeding toward him.
I took off without a second thought moving quickly to shield the kid, Fear began creeping into my heart as I realized I wouldn’t have enough time to dodge the oncoming vehicle and move the child.
I steeled myself, shoving away my rapidly rising panic and rested my hand on my hips forming a poorly shaped triangle on both sides, broadening my shoulders and sticking my chest out. Striking a pose very reminiscent of the man I was trying to mimic. This was my best attempt at combating the fear I felt, modeling myself after the strongest man I know.
