Volume 2 chapter 101

  ***Volume 2: Upper World**

**Chapter 101: Checkmate (Arc: Beginning of the End)**

  July 4th, 12:22 a.m. – Shinjuku Central Plaza (Ray’s Realm Collapse Zone)

  Sky ran.

Jane saw him coming — green eyes glinting under the fractured moonlight — and clapped once.

  **Dismantle x100.**

A hundred invisible cuts exploded outward — slashing through air, stone, sky — aimed straight for Sky’s path. Sky didn’t stop — he thought of his techniques — light blue aura snapping brighter — and moved fast. 600 fps bursts — body blurring — dodging most, but a few grazed him — blood spraying from his arm, cheek, side. He kept running — boots pounding shattered pavement — straight for Ray.

Ray stood calm — blue Gem glowing in his hand — purple aura steady.

Sky lunged — fist pulled back to pinch Ray’s chest — but Ray raised his other hand. An invisible cube snapped shut around Sky — walls shimmering, trapping him inside the same prison Max was already in. Sky slammed into the barrier — fist connecting with nothing — body rebounding — blood dripping from fresh cuts.

  Both trapped.

Sky looked at Max — Max looked back — eyes wide, shadows weak around him. They were side by side now — two cages touching — green and red Gems pulsing in sync.

  Then they saw her.

Jaylee — flying low over the plaza — threads whipping like living knives — big slam as she landed hard, cratering the ground. She grinned — sweet, wrong — and moved fast — threads turning into 500 straight knives — all aimed at Jason.

Jason stood there — aura shifting — dark blue bleeding into pink — like something inside him finally cracked open.

Jaylee’s knives hit — piercing his chest, arms, legs — blood spraying. He didn’t flinch. Didn’t heal right away. Just stood — taking it — then started punching.

Fists blurred — fast, hard — hitting Jaylee’s face, chest, stomach — each punch landing with bone-cracking force. Jaylee kicked his face — boot connecting clean — Jason stood his ground — didn’t budge — blood dripping from his lip.

He ducked her next punch — nothing but air — then kicked her side — power rising — dark pink aura flaring brighter. Jaylee flew — crashed into a wall — threads snapping wild.

Jason clapped — hands tight together — bent low.

  **The Framework.**

The realm bloomed around them — fps locking — air thickening — time bending to his will. Lucky for him — Jane and Ray got caught inside too. Leo nowhere to be seen — maybe she’d slipped away earlier.

  Jason smiled — small, cold.

  “Checkmate.”

He set the timer — floating purple numbers above his head: **30 minutes**.

He moved fast — dashed behind Jaylee — started punching her face over and over — fast, hard — she couldn’t keep up. Fists blurred — cheekbone cracked, nose broke, jaw shifted — blood spraying with every hit. Jaylee tried to block — threads whipping — but Jason was faster.

She turned into a single frame of glass — frozen, shimmering.

Jason went to **10,000,000,000,000 fps** — afterimages following like a comet tail — dashed — punched — after dashed again — Jaylee’s glass body shattered outward — shards flying — she flew back — slammed into the realm wall — bleeding loud, body crumpling.

Ray clapped — slice of will energy slashing forward — purple blade cutting air.

  It missed.

Jason moved faster — kicked Jaylee’s face — it crushed inward — bone snapping — she dropped limp.

Jason turned — looked at Ray and Jane.

Then — randomly — he fell to one knee — breathing hard — aura flickering unstable. Dark blue and pink clashing — like something inside him was tearing.

The chapter ended with Jason on one knee — blood dripping from his mouth — eyes locked on Ray and Jane — realm timer ticking down.
