Chapter 88: The Woman is… Fine Now?
(Celia’s POV)
Exploring more of this place, I realized that it was completely a trap. As I’ve said before, all of those paths had led to that exact room. Now, past that room, I was in the real lab.
Various… odd experiments were being carried out here. None of them were too unethical, but Velma was clearly a researcher at heart. The woman was weak, and rather than get stronger, she researched the undead.
Of course, with them being born from the moon, her experiments never yielded any interesting results. Her frustration was apparent in her research papers.
Velma: “Please don’t ruin anything… Though useless, that work is still mine.” She pleaded.
Celia: “Huh? Are you okay now?” I ask with a concerned tone.
Velma: “Okay? What are you talking about?… Ah, whatever! You completely skipped over the trap that I set up for you…” She pouted, refusing to answer my question.
No, wait… did she really refuse? Rather than ignore my question, it was more like she didn’t understand what I meant at all. Does her PTSD erase parts of her memories when Velma has a panic attack? Who knows…

Celia: “That I did. Now then, will you join my guild?” I ask in reply.
Velma: “Guild? What are you talking about?” She replied with a confused head tilt.
Celia: “…”
Velma looked at me like I was crazy. And… she was even using paper. Our Systems have an easy note taking part of them. Why bother with pen and paper?…
Faith: “Hey… this woman isn’t a normal player.” She informed.
Celia: “What?” I say with a shocked tone.
Faith: “Yeah, she is… Oh, judging by the records, this woman was in the first ever game. Which means that she is endlessly old…” She explained.
Celia: “Endlessly old? What is her deal?” I ask with a curious tone.
Faith: “Like Lia, she is fully immortal. What’s worse… she won’t ever need her soul cleansed. Being so old, she isn’t connected to any universe. So… when the game is over, she ends up in black nothingness until the next game starts.” She answered.
Wow… no wonder she is so confused right now. Giving her this information might cause her to go crazy, but the woman deserves to know the truth. As such, I walked up to Velma, then placed my hand on her head, and transferred tons of information to her.
Hours Later.
Velma: “How tragic… This name of mine probably isn’t even my true name.” She said with a sad tone.
Celia: “I…” My words were cut off.
Velma: “I am far too old to accept your pity. Just get me out of this game. I need… many years to heal from this trauma.” She said with a forced smile.
Doing the same as countless times before, Velma got bribed, joined the guild, and vanished. She didn’t wish to continue the game, and as someone who has been in it for… easily quintillions of years, I can’t blame her in the least. Hopefully, the next girl won’t be so depressing to recruit…
