Chapter 24: The Rest of it.

  (Maralia’s POV)

For me, I have mostly been in this job for millions of years, but with Vanessa, she has lived millions upon millions of lives. Due to that, she had a lot to talk to me about.

Vanessa: “Why did we ever fall out of contact?” She asked with a thinking pose.

Though I was angry at first, I was now talking to Vanessa, just like how I used to back all the years ago. That is, when we still had contact with each other. I didn’t forget why this happened, but I also do not fault Mother for forgetting why we lost contact.

Maralia: “You ran away.” I said with a sigh.

Vanessa: “I…what?” She replied with a confused tone and expression.

Maralia: “You were slow on seducing Sava, and once her daughter ended up being killed, you cut off all contact with me, as well as your friends.” I explained.

  Vanessa: “…”

Like Celia, Vanessa also hides and tries to forget about her personal problems. I didn’t expect her to be depressed for this long, but perhaps she got over it many years ago, and did not think about contacting any of us, or something along those lines.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Vanessa: “You’re an adult, but it was wrong of me to leave you alone for so long… I am deeply sorry for doing that.” She said with a remorseful tone, giving me a hug.

Maralia: “It’s fine. I understand why you left, so there really isn’t much to apologize for.” I replied with a giggle.

Vanessa: “Me leaving due to depression is one thing, but never coming back is another, far worse thing that I did to you, Maralia.” She explained.

  Maralia: “…”

A mother’s warmth, huh? I didn’t realize how much I missed such a feeling… No wonder Celia has so many mothers, all of whom also shower her with such similar loving warmth.

Vanessa: “Please show me to Sava, I must get married to her. For too long, have we been apart… So I need to do what is right, and heal her heart.” She requested after parting the hug.

Maralia: “Heal her heart? Celia already did most of the heavy lifting for you…” I said with a pout.

Vanessa: “That’s true, and I am deeply grateful for her efforts on this matter. It is just another reason why I will treat her absolutely perfectly when I am her wife.” She replied with a laugh.

Maralia: “A perfect wife? What, are we, her wives, not perfect?” I reply with another pout.

Vanessa: “Perfect? Don’t you, in your heart, know that isn’t the case at all? Of course, the stains on her soul are not your fault at all. You got to Celia far too late, the blame lies in with her family, the women that she saves without reason, and her other wives.” She lectured.

Both Faith and I blamed her family for those stains… At first, I thought it was hypocritical, but it is just the truth. They aren’t exactly at fault for it, but the stains were caused, in part, by them as well. Ah, Celia… I swear that, in your next life, you’ll never die, even after billions of years have come and one, this will be my first true gift to you!
