Chapter 61: The Priestess Girl

  Chapter 61: The Priestess Girl

The crisis was averted in a way no one could have imagined.

Looking at the ground covered in the corpses of bck wolves, everyone exged bewildered gnces. Just moments ago, they had prepared themselves to die in battle here. But now... they could only say that the ups and downs of life are truly exhirating!

  "Thank you so much, sir!"

Moving aside the stones blog the door and opening it, Crk looked at the young man in front of him, so moved that he didn’t know what to say. If it weren’t for his timely appearance, Sweetwater Town would likely have turned into a living hell by now.

So, despite the many people still needing burial and others requiring treatment, he immediately came over to express his heartfelt thanks to Alex.

"You're wele. I'm a padin of the Temple; this is part of my duty."

Of course, Alex didn’t mind tinuing to funt his status as a Temple Padin. Although he was still only an apprentice padin, he was at least officially reized by the Temple.

Hmm, in hindsight, using the Temple’s name as a cover was the right move.

  "A Temple Padin?"

Upon hearing this, Crk's face immediately showed a look of uanding. He had been somewhat curious about Alex’s identity, as his attire made him look more like a nobleman’s son. But now that Alex mentioned being a Temple Padin, most of Crk’s doubts vanished.

After all, if he was a Temple Padin, it wasirely unreasonable for someone so young to possess suidable power. With this thought, Crk’s smile grew even more enthusiastic.

"I see, Sir Padin. I didn’t expeeone as young as you to have such strength. The Temple is indeed full of talent. Both you and the priestess are truly good people. This time, we really owe you both."

  "Oh? A priestess?"

"Yes, a few days ago, a novice priestess came to Sweetwater Town. She said she was on a pilgrimage, so we let her stay here for a while. Despite her young age, she is quite skilled, and more importantly, she’s very brave.

When these bck wolves attacked, we inally po send her away, but she insisted on staying to fight with us. If it weren’t for her, we might not have held out until now."

  "Is that so?"

Hearing the hunter-dressed man’s response, Alex nodded, growing curious about this priestess. After all, she was also from the Temple, making her a colleague of sorts.

Having just teleported back, he still didn’t know what the situation was iemple or what had happeo Stone and Malte. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to find a colleague to ask about it.

  "Where is the priestess now?"

"She’s helping us treat the wounded... A lot of people were injured earlier..."

  "Take me to see her."

Hearing this, Alex waved his hand and said, "I know some healing teiques too. Maybe I help."

"Really? That would be great, please follow me, sir..."

Hearing this, Crk was overjoyed. Although the priestess’s healing teiques were excellent, he khat she was nearly exhausted after holding on for so long.

Even so, she had just been trying to treat more militiamen. Though Crk wae her to take care of herself, he couldn’t bring himself to say it, thinking about his rades teetering on the edge of life ah.

They had been through thid thin together, and he couldn’t bear to watch them die. So Alex’s offer was a mueeded boost of morale, and he hurriedly led the young man to the town’s tral cil hall.

The hall was already filled with wounded militiamen. These ordinary people didn’t have Alex’s abilities and were injured during the earlier battle.

Some with lighter wounds were gritting their teeth and holding on, but others y on the ground groaning incessantly. The air was thick with the smell of herbs and blood, a pu and strange odor.

As soon as Alex stepped into the hall, he spotted a robed girl kneeling in front of a wounded man. Her face ale, and even her breathing had bee bored.

But despite this, she gritted her teeth, reag out to pce her hands on the injured man before her. Soon, a faint white light appeared, enveloping the wounded man and beginning to heal his injuries.

However, in Alex’s eyes, the holy light was so dim it was almost like one of those old indest bulbs about to be repced.

  "Cough, cough...!"

And the holy light clearly didn’t immediately heal the wounded man in front of her. He coughed up blood, and the bandages on his chest began to show signs of bleeding again.

It seemed that the priestess’s healing spell was no longer effective iing his injuries. Seeing this, the young priestess’s face turned even paler.

She ched her teeth, hesitated for a moment, and then reached out again.

  "Sigh..."

Watg her struggle, Alex couldn’t help but sigh. He then reached out and cast a fsh of holy light.

Soon, a white beam of light appeared on the wounded man, and the warmth of the holy light rexed his pained expression.

Seeing this, the priestess froze for a moment before quickly turning her head to look at Alex.

  "Y-you are...?"

"Let's save the chit-chat for ter. Let me help these people first."

Before the young girl could finish speaking, Alex stepped forward, cutting off her inquiry. He raised his right hand and waved it, quickly casting holy light over the militiamen, healing their injuries rapidly.

There were quite a few wounded lying there, around thirty or so, many of them severely injured. However, Alex wasn’t worried. He first stabilized those who seemed close to death with a quick heal. Oheir ditions were stable, he began a rge-scale healing spell.

Unfortunately, the [Arthas] on in Alex’s hand wasn’t designed froup healing, g the necessary skills to heal multiple people at oherwise, it would have been even more ve.

  "Phew... all done."

Due to the sheer number of injured and the severity of their wounds, Alex had to gh several rounds of healing before he was finally dohe wounded had stopped their cries of pain and were now sleeping soundly with rexed expressions.

For Alex, this wasn’t a big deal. But Crk and the young priestess were utterly stunned by what they saw!

They had witnessed Alex’s incredible power during the battle at the wall, where he single-handedly killed the lead wolf and wiped out the entire wolf pack. It was clear that this young man possessed extraordinary strength for someone his age.

But now, he had dispyed such remarkable healing abilities?!

On this ti, whether one was a mage, padin, thief, priest, or astrologer, they all drew their power from starlight energy. The different forms this energy took were simply due to their particur affinities. It’s like how all humans have arms and legs, but some are better at painting, some excel at running, and others at music.

Starlight energy works the same way—your profi a particur area determines how well you wield that power. Some people ’t cook to save their lives, while others are naturally tone-deaf...

So it wasn’t surprising that Alex excelled in bat. But the fact that he was also so skilled in healing was beyond shog for the two of them.

Even someone as inexperienced as Crk could see the differehe priestess had to perform a devout prayer ritual, softly murmuring intations before she could heal someone. But this young man? He just raised his hand, not even paying attention to what he was doing, and a holy light would immediately desd.

More importantly, his holy light seemed even more effective than the priestess’s!

Isn’t he supposed to be a padin? Why does he seem more like a priest than an actual priest?

Crk had his doubts but wisely kept them to himself. After all, he was just a small-town warden. While he often boasted about his wide experiehat was only retive. These two were from the Temple, and Crk had never eve foot is gates, except during the Harvest Festival. He might be able to bluff the local youngsters, but in front of these big shots from the city, it was better to keep his mouth shut.

The young priestess, however, reacted very differently. She stared at Alex with wide eyes, as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

  "Why are you doing this?"

  "Doing what?"

Alex uzzled by the priestess’s question. Was she so exhausted that she wasn’t thinking clearly?

  "No, I mean..."

The priestess gnced around, seeming to gather her thoughts. After hesitating for a moment, she finally asked,

"What I mean is... why didn’t you just heal them all at once? Why did you have to do it in rounds?"

"Because some of them were more severely injured? Saving their lives first seemed like the right choice. I don’t have eight arms, so I had to do it this way."

  "You do that?!"

To Alex's surprise, the priestess’s eyes widened in shock, as if she had heard something unbelievable.

  "What else would you do?"

Alex was baffled by her rea. Healing groups and keeping everyone’s health above the danger line was basic strategy. Even though he hadn’t pyed a healing css in his previous life, he had at least seen it done...

  "..."

The priestess stared at Alex in stunned silehen, suddenly, she closed her eyes, and the moment, she colpsed to the ground, fainting.

  "Uh..."

Alex was taken aback by this.

What just happened? Did I say something wrong?
