The scene takes place inside the hotel the group is staying at. Saige gets up out of bed in the middle of the night. Mai hears this and sees Saige leave the hotel room. She then goes and secretly follows behind Saige as he goes to the elevator. He enters the elevator, as Mai hides behind a corner, as she hears the elevator say, “Going down”. Mai then decides to go through a door at the side of the elevator, leading to stairs, but after seeing how far the stairs go, she decides to take a second elevator to the side of the first one, enter it and go down to the lobby floor.
After she takes an elevator ride down, the elevator doors open and she notices Saige is in the lobby. “Saige!”, shouts Mai. Saige turns around and sees Mai. “Leave me alone, Mai.”, says Saige. “What are you doing, running away?”, asks Mai, while exiting the elevator and jogging up to him. “Is it that obvious?”, says Saige. “Saige, please stay.”, says Mai. “So what, you can use me to take out Azrael?”, says Saige as the hotel staff behind the lobby counter act surprised. “Saige, can we.. not talk about this in front of...”, says Mai, as Saige cuts her off. “In front of them? Why does it matter? Why does anything matter at this point?”, says Saige.
“Saige”, says Mai. “You know what I am. So why are you trying to stop me?”, asks Saige. “That’s a stupid question, cause I’m your friend.”, Mai answers. Saige goes into a period of silence after her response, then finally speaks. “I can’t help what I am, Mai.”. “I know, but that’s not your fault.”, says Mai. “I’m getting out of here, either way.”, says Saige. “Then I’ll start walking with you to convince you not to leave.”, says Mai. “Go ahead and do what you want.”, says Saige.
Saige just walks out of the hotel, as Mai jogs up and walks beside him. The two walk under street lamps as they go. “Wow, these street lights help make it not so dark out, huh.”, says Mai. Saige says nothing in response. “Saige, I.. can’t pretend to know what you’re going through, but if you open up...”, says Mai, as Saige cuts her off. “I told you I’m leaving. I don’t need to open up.”, says Saige. “Then.. I’ll leave with you.”, says Mai. “Don’t be stupid.”, says Saige. “I’m the one being stupid!?”, says Mai in an angry response, as she goes and stands in front of him. She then tries speaking to him, face-to-face, “Saige! You’re the one who's leaving us after we’ve spent all this time traveling together and getting to know one another. I feel I’d be stupid just to let you leave, after all that.”. “Are you sure you don’t just need me, cause I could defeat Azrael.”, says Saige.

Mai slaps him. Saige takes the slap and just stands there, with an irritated look. Mai then goes on with her spiel, “I’m here cause we’re friends Saige! Forget Azrael! We’re friends, okay! I-I care about you enough to be scared about where you’re going to run off to and if you’re going to try to survive on your own again. I care about you Saige, how else can I be clear about that. Now we don’t have to... Saige?” Saige starts tearing up. “I don’t know what to do about it, okay.”, says Saige.
Later on, Mai and Saige are just at a water fountain, in the middle of the city. “Just.. this whole thing about Azrael being my dad has me disturbed.”, says Saige. “Yeah, I could see how it would.”, says Mai. “Like imagine you woke up and learned your dad was the demon king himself. Now I see that my powers make more sense. But still.”, says Saige. “Yeahh. That has got to suck. It also makes me think, how did he get a human partner?”, says Mai. “Hm?”, asks Saige. “Cause from what Gregory said, remember, your mom’s human, but your dad’s Azrael.”, says Mai. “I don’t know, maybe my mom was crazy.”, says Saige. “Or maybe she didn’t know who he was at the time.”, says Mai. “Well.. yeah maybe, could also be true.”, says Saige.
“You know it’s weird our generation never personally saw Azrael’s face, but the older generation has. I wonder how much he looks like you.”, says Mai. “Makes me weirded out to think about it... You know what, I wanna help out in the hunt down for Azrael, after all.”, says Saige. “Really?”, says Mai. “Oh your eyes really lit up when I said that, didn’t they.”, says Saige. “I told you I’m not trying to make you fight Azrael! I’m here to stop you from leaving.”, says Mai. “Whatever you say. Anyway, I wanna hunt him down, but I wanna talk to him.”, says Saige. “Oh really?”, asks Mai. “Ask him why he did all that warring and if he still feels like doing it again.”, says Saige.
Mai tilts her head in a confused manner. “What?”, asks Saige. “That’s kind of a mature stance to take. Better than...” She then puts a hand and a fist together “...I’m going to kick his ass”.”, says Mai. “Yeah, well.. he’s my old man. I wanna know why before I kick his ass.”, says Saige. “There it is.”, says Mai. “But first I need to get stronger. Aros already kicked my ass, and he’s probably a little punk compared to Azrael. I’m going to become stronger. Kick Aros’ ass, then make my way to Azrael and possibly kick his ass too.”, says Saige. “And there’s the Saige I know.”, says Mai. “But first I gotta get stronger.”, says Saige. “I’ve heard you already on that.”, says Mai. “Shik’wa’s gotta help me on that.”, says Saige. Mai smiles while looking at him. “So, you wanna head back now.”, asks Mai. “Yeah, let’s go back.”, says Saige.
Later on, in the morning time, Master Shik’wa is across from Saige at his table. “Please train me to become stronger than my brother.”, asks Saige. “Of course. I mean it was always the plan to train you to become strong enough to defeat Azrael, either way.”, says Master Shik’wa. “Okay. Good.”, says Saige. “But it will take six months of training.”, says Master Shik’wa. “Six months!?”, shouts Saige. “And I don’t want to hear complaining.”, says Master Shik’wa. “Fine. You got yourself a deal.”, says Saige. The two then shake on it.
